An Atmore woman remained in the county jail this week, charged with hitting her boyfriend with a dumbbell during an argument.
According to Atmore Police Department reports, officers were sent to a residence near the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and America Lane, where a resident reported “a female walking up to the residence, covered in blood.”
Police eventually discovered that the woman, 47-year-old Renita Lavette Trice, had been involved in an argument with her boyfriend, whose blood was all over her.
They learned that Trice had become angry during their argument and “struck her boyfriend in the forehead with an eight-pound dumb bell.”
Officers determined that Trice was the primary aggressor in the two-party melee, and she was placed under arrest.
She was processed into the Escambia County Detention Center on a charge of second-degree domestic violence, a Class B felony.
An employee of the jail’s booking and release division reported that Trice was still in the facility, under $75,000 bond, late Monday, May 16.
