Atmore City Council members zipped through a three-item agenda during the panel’s Monday, April 25, meeting. The council learned of the availability of “essential pandemic packages,” re-appointed two members of the city’s planning commission and appointed two new members to the board of zoning adjustments.
District 3’s Eunice Johnson explained that the pandemic packages are available due to the help of Wind Creek Casino & Hotel and Pastor Monroe Tucker of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
The packages, provided by Pensacola Caring Hearts, will include hygiene products, paper towels, cleaning products, baby items and more. The first 200 will be distributed at Houston Avery Park on Saturday, May 28, starting at 9 a.m.
Council members then approved the appointments of Lori Stinson and Angela Leachman to fill vacancies on the city’s Board of Zoning Adjustments and the re-appointments of Voncile Stallworth and Chapman Maxwell to the city’s planning commission.
Mayor Jim Staff also announced that Poarch Band of Creek Indians did conduct its semi-annual hazardous materials collection this Saturday, April 30, at the tribe’s main fire station.
The event included televisions, batteries, paint and other such materials continued from 8 a.m. until noon.
