Thursday, January 13, Escambia Academy’s Landon Sims was named the 2021 AISA Back of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writer’s Association (ASWA).
Sims, who was also selected to first-team, AISA All-State earlier last month, was among three other finalists nominated for the award. Sims received the honor during the Mr. Football luncheon banquet which was held at the Montgomery Renaissance in Montgomery.
This season, Sims had 123 carries for 1,003 yards, scored 18 touchdowns, made 66 of 117 pass attempts for 1,201 yards and threw for 16 touchdowns. Defensively, Sims caught 6 interceptions and gained 73 tackles.
