James Albert “Jimmie” Dixon Jr.
Mr. James Albert “Jimmie” Dixon Jr. age 87, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 in Uriah, Ala. He lived in Uriah most of his life. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Monroe Branch. He worked for years with an Off Shore Oil Company as a cook. He enjoyed cooking and baking. He loved his family dearly and always valued the time he spent with them, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Albert Dixon Sr. and June Courtney Dixon; one son, Richard Dixon; one sister, June “Honey” Dixon.
Mr. Dixon is survived by his wonderful wife of sixty-six years, Sadie Lois Dixon of Uriah; two sons, Terry Lynn Dixon, of Doniphan, MO; Danny Leon Dixon, of Uriah; three daughters, Sharon Diane Dixon, of Uriah, Sandy Elaine Heaton of Germany, Tammy Darlene Jay, of Frisco City, Ala.; four sisters, Janice Steade of Mobile, Ala. Janette Lea “Tuney” Williamson, of Little River, Ala., Susie Cleveland, of Daphne, Ala. and Marilyn Powers, of Loxley, Ala.; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with President Gene Brewer and John Gregson officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.
The family received friends Monday, August 23, 2021 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m.

Ervin Berry
Mr. Ervin Berry, age 69, of Davisville, Fla., passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021. He was born in Montgomery, Ala. to the late Colon H. and Gwnette Wilkins Berry. He worked for Frontier Communications for thirty-three years and was currently employed with the City of Atmore as an Engineer. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death his parents and his brother, Everett Berry.
Mr. Berry is survived by his children, Craig Berry of Flomaton, Ala.; Lindsay Rebecca Berry (Craig Watson) of Flomaton, Ala.; Jennifer Janell (Wesley) Butts of Louisville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Colby, Kaitlin, Jackson, Natalee, Bailey, Preston, Brandon; two great grandchildren, Luke, Liam and many friends and family.
A private inurnment will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Robbie Lynn Carnley
Mrs. Robbie Lynn Carnley, age 39, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in Atmore, Ala. She was a lifelong resident of Flomaton, Ala. She worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for twenty plus years. She was a member of Little Escambia Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly and always valued the time she spent with them. She was involved in her children’s cheering and their sports activities. She enjoyed painting, remodeling her house and vacationing with her family. She loved the Christmas holiday’s more than any other holiday, because she loved decorating for it.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Louise Ellis and Howard and Eunice Stanton.
Mrs. Carnley is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Christine) Stanton, of Flomaton.; her husband of four years, Jerry Wayne Carnley of Flomaton; two sons, Jerry Wayne Carnley III and Cooper Nathaniel Carnley, both of Flomaton; two daughters, Amber Burkett and Lilly Sutton, both of Flomaton; relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Jonathan Hill, Rev. Waylon Stuckey, and Rev. Jeff Howard, officiating.
Interment followed at Little Escambia Cemetery.

Ernest Owen Wood, Sr.
Mr. Ernest Owen Wood, Sr., age 82, of Canoe, Ala., passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Ala. after a lengthy illness. He was born in Copeland, Ala. He was a 1957 graduate of Vigor High School, Prichard, Ala. He joined the Alabama Army National Guard at age 15 and upon high school graduation, transferred to the U.S. Navy
Owen served with distinction aboard the aircraft carrier USS Antietam and was honorably discharged from service in 1962. He then resided in Prichard serving his community as a member of the Civitan Club and was actively involved in the Mobile County political arena. He served as chairman of the Prichard Water and Sewer Board, and was a member of the Pentalpha Lodge #804 F&AM and the 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason Valley of Mobile. He worked for ALCOA, where he retired after 25 years and began operating a family farm in the cattle and hay business within the community of Canoe, Alabama. He attended Canoe United Methodist Church, and was affectionately known as the “unofficial mayor” of Canoe. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and enjoyed his morning coffee with friends and strangers at Baker’s Store telling stories of his adventures. His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren and beloved family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O.D. and Erna Wood and his brothers, James and Edsel Wood.
Mr. Wood is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Ronda Jalis Wood; sons, Ernie (Regina) Wood and Vance (Traci) Wood; three grandchildren, Michael, Rachel, and McKinley “Mac” Wood.
A graveside service was held at Canoe United Methodist Cemetery in Robinsonville, Ala. Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 2 p.m. for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Children’s Home or a children’s charity of choice.

Mrs. Ola Mae Spence Weekly, age 97, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 in Monroeville, Ala. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to late Ashley and Dora Grimsley Spence. She was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church in Walnut Hill. She was retired from Vanity Fair in Atmore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Weekly; three sisters Clinnie Joiner, Mary Creasy, Pearly Hollingsworth; five brothers, Earnest Spence, Luke Spence, John Spence, Ransom Spence and A.D. Spence.
Mrs. Weekly is survived by one son, William D. “Billy” (Vicki) Taylor of Frisco City, Ala.; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Gipson officiating. Burial followed in Dry Springs Cemetery.

Eldon Laverne Eicher
Mr. Eldon Laverne Eicher, age 81, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born near Foley, Ala. to Dorcey and Iva Schroeder Eicher. He spent most of his life in Walnut Hill after he spent eleven summers in wheat harvest, starting in Oklahoma and traveling through western Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming and into Montana. These years were a highlight in his life. In 1971 he was converted and baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite. He spent most of his life interested in engines and cars. For thirty years he was a mechanic at the Ford garage in Atmore, plus having a shop at home. He also loved to garden, blessing many with good produce.
He was preceded in death were his wife of thirty-nine years, Rosie; his parents; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Koehn; two sisters, Vada and Nadine; one brother, Winston and two brothers-in-law Charlie Koehn and Bobby Byrd.
Mr. Eicher is survived by two sons, Leonard and Angela of Davisboro, Ga. and John and Kristen of Scotia, Neb.; four grandchildren, Bryson, Liam, Jonas, and Kylie of Scotia; parents-in-law, Leon and Martha Koehn of Moundridge Kan.; one brother, Ben Eicher of Davisville, Fla.; two sisters- in-law, Naomi and Vince Becker of Moundridge Kan., Cindy Koehn of El Campo, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Lee and Janice Koehn of Faunsdale Ala., Melvin and Carol Koehn of Hugoton, Kan.; special friends, Galen and Rosalie Schmidt; seventeen nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Walnut Hill Mennonite Church. Interment followed in the Walnut Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Manell Cox Raley, age 72, of Gulf Shores, Ala., passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 in Bay Minette, Ala. She was born in Montgomery, Ala. to the late Frank and Edythe Baker Patrick.
Mrs. Raley is survived by her husband, Carl H. Raley, Jr. of Gulf Shores; two sons, Corry (Erica) Cox of Huntsville, Ala.; Patrick (Kendal) Cox of Bay Minette, Ala.; daughter; Meggan Cox of Daphne, Ala.; brother, Benny Patrick of Atmore, Ala.; sister, Frankie (Billy Wayne) Donald of Nokomis, Ala. and five grandchildren.

Mr. Bruce Ladon Smith, age 70, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 in Atmore. He was born in Atmore to the late Bruce and Carolyn Sharpless Smith. He attended McRae United Methodist Church in Atmore. He owned and operated many pawn shops through the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Smith is survived by his son, Scotty (Dodi) Smith of Atmore and daughter, Kelly (Curt) Houston of Foley, Ala.; sister, Anita Mancil of Atmore; eight grandchildren; six great- grandchildren and family and friends.

Kathryn Abramovich Hicks
Mrs. Kathryn Abramovich Hicks, age 88, of McDavid, Fla., passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 in McDavid. She was born in Perdido, Ala. to the late Rudolph and Viola Vidak Abramovich. She was a member of Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church in Bogia, Fla. and was a retired RN with over thirty-three years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by her husband, Fred Hicks of McDavid; two children, Bro. Ed (Valerie) Hicks of Molino, Fla. and Rhonda (Brian) Bruley of Atmore, Ala.; four grandchildren, Ben, Charity, David, Nathan and six great-grandchildren.

Karen Langford Brown
Mrs. Karen Langford Brown, age 71, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Fairhope, Ala. Karen, a Phoenix, Arizona native, was a resident of Carencro, La. since 1979. She attended Romar Beach Baptist Church in Orange Beach, Ala. She was a homemaker and President of Offshore Oilfield Services in Carencro, La. Karen wrote beautiful poetry. She wrote a poem every month for the atmore Magazine since its inception in February 2002. She also has a collection of her poems on her website www.MySpiritWind.com . Karen deeply loved her family. She also loved people and made many friends over the years. Her hobbies included: reading, writing poetry, cooking, and gardening. She was a firm believer in God and country and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lenna Purvis Langford.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Jerry Michael Brown of La.; two sons, Christopher (Karen) Brown of Texas and Waylon (Allison) Brown of La.; one granddaughter, Chloe Elizabeth Brown and four grandsons, Cooper John Brown, Tyler Rogers, Tallon Abel Brown and Tate Nolan Brown; her father, Rev. Colton Langford of Atmore. Ala.; two brothers, Jimmy Langford and David Langford, both of Atmore; two sisters, Nina Langford and Lana Langford, both of Atmore.

Ms. Porsha Knight, age 36, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021. She was born to Shirley Knight Washington and Mack Dailey. She was an independent, intelligent, strong young woman affectionally known as Kodie Dyrie (Lil Kodie). She was raised up with her great-great mother and family in the Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church. She was a 2003 graduate of Escambia County High School. She relocated to Pascagoula, Miss. and then to Charlotte, N.C. working various jobs. She was a founder/owner of Purple Pantry LLC and Boujie Affair Beauty Bar, an independent Artist.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Pearlie Mae Knight; grandparents, Rev. Willie g. and Mattie B. Dailey and cousins, Lester Tyrone Knight and Richard Dailey.
Ms. Knight is survived by her mother, Shirley Knight (dedicated step-father, Mack Dailey); sisters, Tornikka Knight, Zereka Knight and MeKasia Washington; step-sisters, Synethia Thomas and Laqueta Ikner, all of Atmore; step-brother, D’Alan Washington; nephews, KaVeon Montgomery and Azaiden Knight; grandmother, Arcile Knight; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Denise Renee Pace, age 56, of Century, Fla., passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Ashville, N. C. but has lived most, of her life in the Century area. She was an avid Florida State Seminole fan. She valued her time she got to spend with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She always enjoyed the outdoor cookouts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and. Mary Lee Connors Banks; husband, Steve Pace; one brother, Duane Banks.
Mrs. Pace is survived by her two sons, Steven Pace (Amie) of Molino, Fla. and Rannon Pace (Marisah) of Century; one daughter, Rachel Pace (Ronnie Holt) of Cantonment, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Kaleb, Bella, Harper, Skyla, Ean, Siobaun, Logan, and Braelyn; nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Mr. Gregory Wayne Pierce, age 63, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at his residence. A native of Atmore, was retired from the Alabama Dept. of Corrections with over twenty four years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ardie Mae Pierce and Walter Edward Pierce; a son, Adrain Johnson and a brother, Michael Pierce.

Hazel McGhee Albritton
Mrs. Hazel McGhee Albritton, age 74, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 in Atmore, Ala. She was a lifelong resident of Atmore, AL. She worked several years at the Atmore Nursing Center as a dietary aide. She was a member of Gospel Light Chapel. She was a proud member of Poarch Band of Creek Indians. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and cooking for family and going to the annual Pow Wow. Her grandchildren were the focus of her life and kept her going.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norvie Lee McGhee and Gladys Presley McGhee; husband, Lenard Albritton Jr.; three brothers, Early McGhee, Norvie Lee McGhee Jr; Cecil McGhee; two sisters, Louise Turner, Betty Jane McVey and granddaughter, Jordan Albritton.
Mrs. Albritton is survived by her two sons, Tim Albritton (Bethany) and Olan Albritton (Geri Lynn), all of Nokomis, Ala.; one daughter, Terri Breckenridge (Terrence) of Nokomis; three brothers, Douglas McGhee, of Spanish Fort, Ala; Ronnie McGhee, of Nokomis, Huey McGhee, of Zion, Il.; one sister, Eloise Ramer, of Gadsden, Ala.; ten grandchildren, Logan, Hunter, Lylia, Addison, Silas, Drew, Chlo’e, Temple, Sophia, Shepard; five great-grandchildren, Avaiha, Zadyn, Chasyn, Rylan, Oan; special niece, Christine Ward; special nephew, Michael McGhee, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Ray Ward officiating. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC.

Betty Ann Williams
Mrs. Betty Ann Williams, age 72, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 in Atmore, Ala. She was a lifelong resident of Mineola, Ala. and a member of the Mineola Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandchildren. She was a good cook, loving wife, and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosea Williamson and Alma Freeman Williamson; one daughter, Connie Williams; one brother, Tony Williamson.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five and a half years, Curtis Williams of Mineola; one son, Curtis Michael Williams of Mineola; two daughters, Amy Johns (Charles) of Brewton, Ala. and Shelly Pugh (Ronnie) of Goodway, Ala.; one brother, Jerry Williamson of Mineola; four sisters, Jean Baggett, Judy Boone and Darlene Murphy, all of Mineola and Janet Williams, of Uriah, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Kyle Williams, Michael Smith, Miranda Dunn, Brianna Pugh, Jayce Pugh, Jessie Pugh, Alaina Pugh, Allison Johns; one great- granddaughter, Ada Dunn; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Mineola Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne McMillian, Rev. Buddy Williams and Rev. Lester Peavy officiating. Burial will follow at Mineola Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 6 p.m. until service time Friday at 10 a.m. at Mineola Baptist Church.
