Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce officials announced Friday, May 8, that Mayfest, which has served as the unofficial kick-off to summer in Atmore for years, has been rescheduled for Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1, at Tom Byrne Park.
The Chamber was forced to postpone the two-day event due to the COVID-19 virus.
“The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce … is looking forward to putting on the festival, and we are confident it will be a wonderful time of celebration and tradition,” said Executive Director Emily Wilson. “This year’s festival will proceed with all aspects previously planned for Mayfest including Miss Mayfest, the Mayfest Softball Tournament and the Beautiful Baby Contest.”
Wilson said more information would be forthcoming on the event.
The Miss Mayfest pageant is expected to take place on July 31, as is the two-day softball tournament. The arts and crafts and entertainment portion of the celebration, including the Beautiful Baby Contest, is set to take place on August 1.
