The Fort Mims Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution announces the DAR Good Citizens of three area high schools.
The students were selected from the senior class of each school based on qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism to an outstanding degree.
The DAR Good Citizens for 2018-19 are Sara Elizabeth Rolin, Escambia Academy; Darrica Lavell James, Escambia County High School; and Anna Katherine Knowles from Flomaton High School.
The DAR Good Citizens were eligible to participate in the National DAR Scholarship Contest which included background information in school and community and an essay. All three Good Citizens participated in the scholarship competition.
The Fort Mims Chapter NSDAR winner is Darrica James from Escambia County High School.
The Chapter winner’s package went to District to compete with entries from Baldwin and Mobile counties. The District winner would go to State competition, and the State winner would go to National competition.
Each recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award is to be commended for her excellence in school and community activities. Recognition of each winner will be given at Awards Day or Senior Recognition Day at the end of the school year.
