Helen Marie Chavers
Mrs. Helen Marie Chavers, age 91, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at her home in Georgia. She was a native of Pensacola, Fla. and spent most of her life in Cantonment, Fla. before moving to be with her daughter, Patricia and husband Bill in Newnan, Ga. She was a faithful member on Enon Baptist Church in Enon, Fla.
She loved her family deeply and found joy in every moment spent with them. Life was a beautiful journey for her, filled with laughter and love. Gardening brought her peace. Cooking was another passion of hers; she enjoyed creating delicious meals that brought everyone together around the table.
She was preceded in death by parents, Charles Avery and Downey Singleton; husband, Melvin Carter; sons, Eugene Chavers, Michael Chavers and Roger Chavers; daughters, Shirley Aldridge and Renee Chavers; grandson, Randy Alridge; sister, Evelyn Vannoy.
Mrs. Chavers is survived by her sons, David Chavers of Walnut Hill, Fla., Ronald (Denise) Chavers of Monticello, Miss. and Charlie (Dawn) Chavers of Milton, Fla.; daughters, Patricia (Bill)Wallace of Newnan; she also has two other daughters; twenty grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren, too many to count; numerous other relatives
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Enon Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Enon Baptist Church from 12:30 until service time at 1:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Cody Chavers, Michael Chavers, Phillip Chavers and Ronald Chavers

Quinton C. Rowell


Mr. Quinton C. Rowell, age 84, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at his residence. He was born in Canoe, Ala. to Ellie Monroe and Jannie Foster Rowell. He was a member of Presley Street Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed with Monsanto Company for several years and later owned and operated his own Tanker Truck Business.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Almas Rowell and his sister, Wylonette R. Etheridge.
Mr. Rowell is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Debbie Rowell; his daughters, Marie (Jimmy) Maughon of Stockton, Ala., Racheal (Daniel) Brown of La., Myra Rowell of Miss. and Tyra (Steven) Livingston of Atmore; his sisters, Claudie Bradford of Pensacola, Fla., Ann James and Pauline Olsen, both of Atmore; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Serenity Gardens with Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens in Atmore.
Pallbearers will be Paul Arnold, David Dobson, Daniel Maughon, Erik Olsen, Steven Livingston and Craig Sims.

Peggy Sue Dunn

Ms. Peggy Sue Dunn, age 66, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Atmore to Odis Columbus and Mary Ellen Tolin Dunn. She was a member of the Atmore Apostolic Church. She was employed with Lowery’s Drive-In for many years and was known as “One of the Original Lowery Girls” and the “Ice Cream Lady”.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Betty Lou Dunn Gregg.
Ms. Dunn is survived by her brothers, Billy (Ruthie) Dunn and David Dunn, both of Atmore; her sisters, Evelyn (Bruce) Lang of Brandon, Miss., Ann (Jimmy) Ainsworth of Jena, La. and Lois Mahony of Atmore; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.;
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Timothy James officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
Pallbearers will be Reese McNair, Devin Dunn, Jason Dunn, Alex Reyes, Billy Rice and Matthew Helveston.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 10a.m. until 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore.

Ollie Mae Knight

Ms. Ollie Mae Knight, age 81, of Frisco City, Ala., formerly of Atmore, Ala. passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 at Monroe County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church with Prophet Shawn Williams, Pastor, officiating. Inhumation will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 11, 2025 from 2 until 6 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home.
Lumen Garrett Barrow

Mr. Lumen Garrett Barrow, age 80, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Century Hospital. He served in the United States Army for two years. He retired from Monsanto after thirty-six years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Stella Barrow; brothers, Eugene Barrow, Frank Barrow and Jack Barrow; sister, Esther Creamer.
Mr. Barrow is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Jean Barrow of Century, Fla.; sons, Frank (Frances) Barrow of Century and Johnny (Anita) Barrow of Old Town, Fla.; granddaughters, Tara (Joshua) Kirkland, Alexis Barrow, Nora Barrow, and Grace Barrow; great-granddaughters, Avary and Alivia; one brother, Roger Barrow.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Rock Cemetery at 2 p.m. with Buddy Trawick speaking.
