Whipped-cream-huffing shoplifter, trespasser finally ends up in jail

The following felony arrests were reported by officers of the Atmore Police Department (APD) during the period March 25-29:
Porter Allmon

Allmon

The 37-year-old Atmore man who was detained twice by police over a three-day period but released without charges each time, was finally arrested March 25 after evidence indicated he was responsible for a series of apparent misdeeds that occurred or were attempted across the city.
According to police reports, APD’s first encounter with Allmon came March 19, when officers responded to a report of “a suspicious person knocking on the front door” of a 9th Avenue residence. Allmon was walking away from the residence when police arrived.
Officers reportedly conducted a field interview, detected nothing incriminating, and he was sent on his way.
Three days later, on March 22, officers were sent to Ramey’s, where store employees told them of “a suspicious white male shoplifting in the store and attempting to ‘huff’ fumes from a whipped cream container to get high.”
Store officials had Allmon trespassed from the store but decided not to press charges of fourth-degree theft against him, and he was again sent on his way.
On March 24, a local homeowner posted a video on social media of a white male who was “standing on her porch in the early morning hours, shining a light into the Ring camera.” The homeowner asked through the camera system that the intruder leave. He complied, so she didn’t call the police.
Another resident, whose address wasn’t noted, posted on social media during the same time frame that an attempted burglary had occurred at her residence. That person also decided not to contact police.
Video footage from the 9th Avenue residence clearly showed it was Allmon who was standing on that porch, police said, and the second homeowner was contacted by APD investigators who are trying to determine whether he was also involved in that incident.
Allmon’s lucky streak came to an abrupt halt when police discovered he was on unsupervised probation after having entered a guilty plea on March 5 to a felony domestic violence charge. They contacted the manager of Ramey’s, who ultimately decided to swear out a misdemeanor complaint for shoplifting, and a warrant was issued.
Allmon’s probation was revoked, and he was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center (ECDC), where he remained Tuesday, April 1.
Bryson Bowen

Bowen

Bowen, 25, was arrested March 29 after police responded to a domestic incident at a residence in the 100 block of South Main Street. Officers were sent to the location around 3:55 p.m. and learned that Bowen was in violation of a domestic violence protection order.
Bowen was eventually located at another site and placed under arrest. He was processed into the county jail on one count each of first-degree domestic violence-aggravated stalking and violation of a domestic violence protection order.
He remained behind bars Tuesday morning, April 1.
Kendra Jones

Jones

The Atmore woman, 37, was arrested March 29 on a felony drug possession charge after an officer recognized her as having a suspended driving license and pulled her vehicle over as she drove it along U.S. 31.
The traffic stop was conducted around 1:05 p.m. A K9 unit responded to the scene and “alerted” on the vehicle. A probable cause search led to discovery of a glass pipe with residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as a small amount of marijuana.
Jones was charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree possession of marijuana and driving while license is suspended or revoked. She remained in the ECDC Tuesday morning, April 1.
Alexis Biron

Biron

The Brewton woman, 31, was arrested March 25 after employees of the Dollar General store in Canoe reported she was apparently passed out inside her vehicle in the store’s parking lot, with the vehicle’s engine still running.
APD reports show the responding officer knocked on the window several times to check on Biron. He was finally able to awaken her, and he asked if she was OK. He noted she “seemed to be under the influence” of some substance and asked her to step out of the vehicle. When she did, the city lawman spotted “narcotics in plain view.”
A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a small amount of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with items used to ingest narcotics.
Biron was booked into the ECDC on one count each of possession of a controlled substance, DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was no longer listed on the jail roster Monday morning, March 31.
Jacory Powell

Powell

The 32-year-old Atmore man was arrested March 31 after police responded to a reported domestic incident at a Woods Road location.
Police reports show officers were sent to the site around 1:05 a.m. and soon “discovered evidence indicating the victim had been choked by the victim’s former boyfriend” (Powell), who was gone when officers arrived.
Powell was soon located and placed under arrest on one count of domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation.
He remained in the ECDC Tuesday morning, April 1.
Joseph Neales

Neales

The Cantonment, Fla. man, 49, was arrested March 31 on felony drug possession charges after police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
The pullover took place around 5:40 p.m. on Alabama 21. The reporting officer “noted suspicious behavior” as he talked with Neales and was given consent to search the vehicle. The search yielded a small amount of methamphetamine and Ecstasy, as well as items used to ingest narcotics.
Neales, who is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, remained in the county jail early Tuesday, April 1.
Marcella Boartfield
The 53-year-old Andalusia woman was arrested March 31 after police blue-lighted her vehicle as it traveled along Alabama 21 around 1:50 a.m., without taillights.
The reporting officer “noted suspicious behavior between the driver and the passenger (Boartfield). A K-9 was sent to the scene and indicated that illicit substances were in the vehicle. A probable cause search led to discovery of a glass pipe with a residue that field tests showed was methamphetamine.
Boartfield was arrested on one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She remained in the ECDC early Tuesday, April 1, although no mugshot had been posted by 10 a.m.
