Bruce Elbert Jerkins

Mr. Bruce Elbert Jerkins, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home in Bratt, Fla. Tuesday, March 18, 2025. He was originally from Atmore, Ala. and spent his entire life in the family home in Bratt, Fla. He had a big heart, always helping others, often times sharing vegetables to family and friends. Fishing and hunting were his favorite pastimes. Weekends you could find him at the beach, cooking out with friends, sharing laughter and delicious food. He was an avid Alabama football fan. His life was all about good times and good company.

He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin F. (Freda Noles) Jerkins; brother, Hoyt Craig Jerkins.

Mr. Jerkins is survived by his sister, Deloris (Danny) Presley of Brewton, Ala.; brother, Aubrey Terry (Ethelena) Jerkins of Naples, Fla.; nephew, Cody Jerkins; nieces, Miranda Jerkins, Baylie Lewis, Danyell Presley and Lori Presley; great-nephews, Skylar Presley and Kaleb Presley.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. Burial will follow at Christian Home Cemetery.

Thelma Rue Hendrix

Hendrix

Ms. Thelma Rue Hendrix, age 73, of Flomaton, Ala. passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025. She was born in Red Level, Ala. to Bobby H. McDowell, Sr. and Dora Nell Hendrix McDowell.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bobby Harold McDowell and Brock Allen McDowell.

Ms. Hendrix is survived by her children, Donnie Johnson, Jr. of Flomaton, B.J. Johnson and Tammy Johnson, both of Bluff Springs, Fla.; her sisters, Barbara Davis of Bay Minette, Ala. and Jean Furby of Pascagoula, Miss.; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 24, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at McCurdy Cemetery in Century, Fla.  Interment will follow in McCurdy Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 24, 2025 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, Ala.

Sherri Lynn Plybon

Mrs. Sherri Lynn Plybon, age 62, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in Mobile, Ala. She was born in Hunnington, W.V. and has resided most of her life in Atmore, Ala. where she attended Poarch Baptist Church. She loved spending her weekends outdoors, especially at the beach, attending to her garden, both beautiful flowers and tasty vegetables and going to church on Sundays. She was a big fan of the Auburn Tigers. She took great pride in creating delicious meals for her family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janice Jefferson Plybon; husband, Gordon When she McGhee; one brother, Alan Plybon.
Mrs. Plybon is survived by her father, Rodney Plybon of Wilder, Ky.; four sons, William “Billy” (Heather) Plybon, of Foley, Ala., Michael (Kelly) Matthews of Marianna, Fla., Jacob (Nikki) McGhee and Gregory (Brittany) McGhee, both of Poarch, Ala. two daughters, Janice Ann Plybon (Brandon Nelson) of Virginia Beach, Va., Bethany (Christina) McGhee of Mobile, Ala.; two sisters, Janice (Kenneth) Sullivan of Wagarville, Ala. and Kay (Kenny) Harrell of Jackson, Ala.; twenty-three grandchildren, other relatives

Edna Bazor White

Mrs. Edna Bazor White, age 88, passed away at her home in Perdido, Ala. Thursday, March 20, 2025. Originally from Petal, Miss., spent most of her life in Perdido. She was a devoted member of the Perdido Baptist Church. Her gentle spirit and dedication to her faith will be remembered. She was a passionate seamstress and co-owner of Silver Needle Sewing in Bay Minette, Ala. and an accomplished cook; skilled cake baker and decorator. During her employment years she worked at Perdido Elementary School, Vanity Fair Mills, and the Mardi Gras Costume Company. She loved the Hank Williams Festival.
For over fifty years, she was a devoted member of the Order of Eastern Star fraternity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Wesley (Eardest Stevison) Bazor; husband, Bernard Anderson White; seven brothers, Sennette Bazor, Chester Bazor, Alonzo Bazor, Henry Bazor, Aaron Bazor, Arthur Bazor, Harvey Bazor and one sister, Mary Berry.
Mrs. White is survived by her one son, James (Maria) White, of Perdido; five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 24, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Bro. Michael Hadley officiating. Burial will follow at Bryars McGill Cemetery.

Donald Eugene “Donnie” Brown Jr.

Mr. Donald Eugene “Donnie” Brown Jr., age 45, beloved member of the community, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025 in Pensacola, Fla. Originally from Pensacola, he had made his home in Flomaton for the last four and a half years. He was a man full of life and excitement. He loved to spend his weekends hunting, fishing and crafting in his workshop. His vibrant personality drew people in. He enjoyed watching wrestling matches, cheering for his favorite wrestlers. Fireworks were another passion of his; he loved the colors and sounds lighting up the night sky. Most importantly, he cherished time with his family, creating memories that they would hold dear forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Eugene (Carol Ard) Brown.
Mr. Brown is survived by his two sons, Draven Brown and Gabriel “Gabe” Brown, both of Lillian, Ala.; sister, Monica McLain of Atmore, Ala.; friend, Amber Munro of Flomaton, Ala.; friends, Kevin (Haley) Walker of Jay, Fla.; extended family, John McLain; numerous cousins and friends.

Wrenleigh Nycole Thornton

Infant Wrenleigh Nycole Thornton, age 7 months of Booneville, Ala. was born on August 2, 2024 at Mobile Infirmary, and gained her wings Monday, March 20, 2025. She was her mama’s and daddy’s blue-eyed girl and her brother’s and sister’s keeper.
She was preceded in death by “Meme” Tara Renee Dortch, Vivan Thornton, great-grandmother and great-grandfather, Rubert Lassiter.
Infant Wrenleigh is survived by parents, Amy Morris and Cole Thornton; sisters, Serenity Phillips; Ella Phillips; Maliyah Phillips; brothers, Leland Thornton; Drake Thornton; and Gunner Thornton, grandparents, James Morris; Anthony and Stephanie Thornton; great-grandmother, Elosie Lassiter; great-grandparents, Sylvia and Joe Gipson; great-grandfather, Jack Thornton; James (Carol) Brewer; great-grandmother, JoAnn (Robert) Black; aunt, Cierra Caraway “Derrick”; Dallas Rivers “Hunter”; Paige Morris, Taylor Dove; Chloe Morris; Sophia Morris; Kayleigh Mae; uncle Tyler (Jeri) Thornton; Logan (Paige) Thornton; and Barrett Morris; numerous great-aunts and uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Christian Center with Patrick Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at McCullough Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at McCullough Christian Center.

Clondia Lousherry Finley

Clondia Lousherry Finley, age 61, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Monday, March 17, 2025 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Atmore to Clarence Lee Finley and Lou Vernie Jones- Finley. She attended Detroit Public Schools and accepted Christ at an early age, while living in Detroit, Mich. She moved to Atmore and became a member of Second Chance Faith Miracle Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Mary America. She was a cook for many years at West Bloomfield Nursing Center. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and spending time with her family and she loved her grandchildren. Her most loved TV shows, Blue Blood, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Fire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Lee Finley and Lou Vernie Jones-Finley; her son, Martae Finley; the love of her life and her sister, Stephanie Williams.

Mrs. Finley is survived by her daughter, Martia Finley; three grandchildren, Jalen, Curtis Jr., Anilah; her son, Curtis Sr.; four sisters, Jacqueline Finley, Ivy Loreita Finley, Charlotte Finley-Martin (Curtis), Eartha Finley; nieces, Lashonda, Ebonie, Chantele, Charese, Rachelle; nephews, DaQuan, Darrell, Martez, Martel, LaRon, LeRon, and Ronald; host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, 2025 at Noon at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Michal L Wilson, Sr., Host Pastor and Apostle Mary America, Eulogist. Interment followed at Faithview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ivan Jackson, Layton Frye, Michael Dennis, Martez Filey, Martel Finley and Anthony Finley.

Flower bearers were her nieces.

Climmie Edwards of Atmore, Ala. passed away Friday, March 7, 2025 in New York.
