Special to Atmore News
I’m sure that none of us look forward to going to the doctor’s office or the hospital. It may be the news we don’t want to hear, the long wait in the waiting room, or the people we encounter who work in those locations. More often than not, the experience isn’t something to write home about.
I had a totally different experience today [March 3] when I went to Atmore Community Hospital to have some routine blood work done. While I can’t write home about the experience, I can definitely write to you about it.
From the time I walked into the Emergency Room entrance until I left through that same door, I had nothing but positive experiences. The check-in was fast and efficient, the person working with me was pleasant, and she responded to my general questions. When I got to the lab, there were two people ahead of me, but I barely had time to open the magazine I had brought along, just in case I needed it. The sweet lady who drew my blood did it painlessly, quickly, and had me “bandaided” and ready to go in a jiffy.
It was at this point that another worker entered the lab, and I saw the back of her shirt. It was so unique that I asked if I could take a picture of it. The map of Alabama is personalized with our 36502 zip code and a big red star for Atmore’s location. The pictures on the shirt show many of the services which we are fortunate to have at our local hospital. The wording says a lot. Based on the experiences I’ve always had at Atmore Community Hospital, I think it’s true to say they do make a difference with each person who requires their services.
Thank you, Atmore Community Hospital and the many workers who are a part of the hospital, for the outstanding job you do, and the way in which you do it. I, for one, am glad you’re a part of our community.
