Ernestine M. Hudson

Mrs. Ernestine M. Hudson, age 90, of Oak Grove, Fla., passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024 in Pensacola, Fla.  She was born in Oak Grove to the late Ernie and Annie O’Farrell Milstead. She was a 20 year employee at Ernest Ward High School in Walnut Hill, Fl. where her family grew expeditiously as she grew closer and closer to students and teachers alike. In retirement she loved traveling with her husband, A.J. wearing out three motorhomes seeing the beauty of God’s creation throughout the United States and Canada. Her love of family and friends was only bested by her love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who she

Worshipped as a member of the Walnut Hill Baptist Church.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.J.; numerous uncles and aunts.

Mrs. Hudson is survived by her three sons, Paul (Merry) Hudson of Pensacola, Robert Hudson and Edward (Sharon) Hudson, all of Oak Grove; grandchildren, Kim (Jamie) Brown, Joshua (Deanna) Hudson, Brandy (Steven) White, Neil (Phuong) Hudson, Ashley Hudson, Ryan Hudson and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ted Bridges officiating.  

Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Milstead, Bob Stone, Jerry Poulsen, Jamie Brown, Neil Hudson and Michael Milstead.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit at 8383 N. Davis Hwy. Pensacola, Fl.  32504

Eddie James “Jamie” JJ Walker Jr.

Mr. Eddie James “Jamie” JJ Walker Jr., age 52, of Loxley, Ala., passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024 in Summerdale, Ala. He was born to the late Eddie James (Wanda Burt) Walker Sr., originally from Pensacola, Fla. He was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and shared his love for music with others as a talented musician, bass player, and songwriter. Jamie was perhaps best known as a member of The Midnight Confessions Band in Nolan’s, Gulf Shores, Ala.  He had a passion for cars, recently restoring a 1979 Chevy Camaro with his best friend, Burt Whitmire. He loved drag strip and dirt track racing, often seen with his “On the War Path” sponsored vehicle. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes. He and his wife led a nonprofit micro grocery store called Walker’s Table & Pantry in Loxley, helping their community while showcasing his caring spirit.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Jeanie Marie Walker of Loxley, Ala.; sister, Michelle Walker of Molino, Fla.; close friends, Burt and Josie Whitmire of Foley, Ala.; multiple step-brothers and step-sisters; special cousins, more like siblings and many close friends

Anthony Tyrone Matthews Sr.

Mr. Anthony Tyrone Matthews Sr., age 54, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024. He was born to Cora Matthews and Willie Johnson in Atmore. He was a 1989 graduate of Escambia County High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was deployed to Desert Storm. He was also a member of “That Eureka Lodge” No. 953.

He was preceded in death by his loving son, Anthony (AJ) Matthews Jr.; mother and father; grandparents, Willie and Georgia Mae Mathews and Jimmy and Beatrice Johnson.

Mr. Matthews leaves to cherish his memories, a beautiful granddaughter, Kinleigh Latrice Finklea; brothers, Gary Matthews and Tony Johnson; sister, Jahiallia Johnson; God children, Jordan Johnson and Vermon Tate Jr.; two devoted aunts, Karen (Susie) Matthews-Orange and Mary Mathews-Roberson; a very devoted cousin, Karissa Matthews; bonus mom, Vasaroy Johnson; a loving best friend, Torisha L. Matthews and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 3, 2025 from 3 until 6 p.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Noon at Emmanuel Faith Center, 710 E Ridgeley Street, Atmore.
