News Staff Report

Each year, Escambia County Training School (ECTS) Golden Eagles hold their Alumni Gathering. The group receives funds from local and out-of-state residents, but the funds don’t just stay within the organization.
An annual tradition with ECTS is the distribution of gifts at Atmore Nursing Center. This year, several members gathered Wednesday, December 11, to deliver blankets to ANC residents. Activities Director Darlene Murphy accepted the gifts on behalf of the residents.
ECTS also uses funding to award scholarships to high school students. Those will be presented in May 2025.
When members completed their task at ANC, they went to lunch together. Attending the luncheon were Barbara Poole Harris (Class of 1967), Rachel Brown Wiggins (‘67); Linda Hubert-Baldwin (‘65); Rosie Robinson-Jones (’66 and ‘67); Elnetta Johnson Thomas (‘51); Twilla Roberts-Pierce (‘74); Arthur James Pierce (‘66 &’67).
Elnetta Thomas blessed the meal.
