Eugene “Gene” Parker

Mr. Gene Parker, age 80, of Orange Beach, Ala. passed away Friday, November 29, 2024 at Vitas Hospice in Pensacola, Fla. He was born Paradise Hills, Calif. to Rollin and Dorothy Parker. After his Hollywood High School graduation he enlisted in the Navy serving in Vietnam on the flight deck of the USS Hancock.

He was a member of the “Viewfinders” motorcycle club; worked for CFI which served the movie industry and garnered his passion for photography; worked for Preston Petty and then Hewlett Packard in McMinnville, Ore. as a lithographer and graphic design artist. During his leisure he rode dirt bikes on many of Oregon’s forest trails; loved camping, fishing and whitewater rafting. He was proficient in silver smithing with designing, producing and selling silver and turquoise jewelry which came naturally with his Native American ancestry.

In 2012, he moved to Florida to be closer to his sons and family and frequented Orange Beach where he loved sitting on the deck with his dogs, Nikki Mutt and Mini Mutt. He spent his last years gazing over Wolf Bay, watching generations of Ospreys nesting nearby.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Sandy Murphy and DeeDee Bojorquez.

Mr. Parker is survived by his sons, Todd (Robin) Parker of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Jason Parker of Milton, Fla.; grandsons, Cody (Leigh Ann) Parker of Opelika, Ala. and Dustin Parker of Pensacola; great-grandchildren, Sully, Eloise, and Henry Parker of Opelika along with many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Temecula, California will be his final resting place, on his native soil.

Blakelyn Grace Smith

Infant Blakelyn Grace Smith was born sleeping Monday, November 25, 2024 at 6:20 a.m. at North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette, Ala.

Precious Blakelyn Grace is survived by her parents, Annabella Smith and Chase Bishop, both of Atmore.  

She is survived by her brother, Austin James and sister, Briella Faith; grandparents, Jessica and Chris Hubbard of Atmore, Amber Boone of Poarch, Ala. and Jason Smith of Mobile, Ala.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 4 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore, AL.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 3 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Annie Kathryn Drew

Mrs. Annie Kathryn Drew, age 75, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Wednesday December 4, 2024 at her residence. She was born in Atmore to Bede and Annie Singleton Conway. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church. She retired from Vanity Fair Corporation. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She also loved working in her flower beds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Frankie Lee Drew; six brothers and six sisters.

Mrs. Drew is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Ralph Drew; her daughters, Tammy Drew and Kim (Darby) Peavy both of Atmore; two granddaughters, Lauren Ikner and Anna Kathryn Peavy; one great-granddaughter, Lilly Kate Ikner.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 1l a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Andy Boutwell officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Casey Freeman, Bradley Freeman, Scott Lee, Chris Grimsley, David Zigler and Larry Gross.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Bettie Lou Odom

Mrs. Bettie Lou Odom, age 81, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Century, Fla. and later in life moved to Addison, Ill.; and has resided in Atmore, Ala. the past 20 years. She enjoyed cross stitching, gardening (both flowers and vegetables), classic movies, Destin, Fla. beaches and trips to Las Vegas and the casinos.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther D. (Bernice Rutherford) Emmons; husband, Jesse James Odom; two sisters, Annette Jones and Merlene Forbes; one grandson, Brandon Odom.
Mrs. Odom is survived by her two sons, Jeffery Odom (Linda Lee) of Geneva, Ill. and Michael Odom, of Daphne, Ala.; one daughter, Linda Kay Odom of Loxley, Ala.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Chilicki, Kevin Odom and Alexander Odom; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 6, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Rev. Bill Stuckey officiating. Burial followed at Pineview Cemetery.

Michael Louis Williams

Mr. Michael Louis “Mykee” Williams, age 21, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Uriah, Ala. He had a passion for riding motorcycles, dirt bikes, four-wheelers, and trucks. He loved working on projects with his dad and found happiness in building with Legos. He had a special place in his heart for his cats and his dog, Diesel. He was a huge Alabama football fan.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Louis Myers and Betty Jane Myers; great-grandparents, Carl Buddy Williams and Edna Welch Williams.

Mr. Williams is survived by his parents, Cecil Williams and Karen Williams of Uriah; grandparents, John Wayne Chavis and Peggy Williams, both of Uriah and Wendell White of Poarch, Ala.; one sister, Mary Jane Williams of Cullman, Ala.; numerous aunts and uncles, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 9, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Bro. Buddy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Uriah Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Kimberly Dean McGhee Kelly

Mrs. Kimberly Dean McGhee Kelly, age 57, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024. She was born in Enterprise, Ala. to Ronald McGhee and the late Grace McGhee. She started singing in church at a very young age. She and her husband Terry married in 1987 and continued in the music ministry until 2013. She enjoyed the beach, fishing, singing, playing guitar, bass and drums and helping her husband in their furniture store.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Narvell McGhee and her sister, Jacquelyn Gaylor.

Mrs. Kelly is survived by her husband, Terry Kelly; father, Reverend Ronald McGhee, Sr. of Scranage Road, Ala.; two brothers, Ron McGhee, Jr. and James (Joanne) McGhee, both of Dothan, Ala.; one sister, Rhonda (Richard) Daniels of Atmore and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday December 11, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 11a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC

Carolyn Marie Walston

Carolyn Marie Walston, age 69, of Bratt, Fla. passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Ascension Sacred Heart hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Corder and Marie Collins; daughter, Tonya Parr.

Ms. Walston is survived by one son, Tadd Corder (Kendra) and five grandchildren, Trinity Corder, Eve Corder, London Corder, Cade Parr and Zachary Cash.

She was divorced, but her former husband Paul Walston had continued to be her primary care giver. Paul will always be regarded as the father of Carolyn’s son Tadd and the grandfather of Tadd and Kendra’s children. 

Graveside services will be held Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, Fla. with Bro. Tadd Corder and Bro. Brad Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery.

Ethan Blake Hall

Mr. Ethan Blake Hall, age 34, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in Brewton, Ala. His warm spirit and gentle nature left a mark on everyone who knew him. He was the kind of person who was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. He had a great love for the outdoors enjoying riding four-wheelers, exploring the woods, and spending time in nature. Hunting and fishing were special moments filled with joy and adventure. He loved the simple joys of life. He had a particular fondness for playing video games, with “DayZ” being his absolute favorite. He also cherished cozy nights in, watching movies with loved ones. Ethan’s kindness and zest for life will forever be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
