Ja’Kyran Alias Watkins
Ja’Kyran Alias Watkins (Goom), age 17, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024. He was born in Andalusia, Ala. to Takisha Ingram (Johnny Holloway) and Kelvin Watkins (Jeanna Gillis). He was a student at hillcrest High School in the class of 2027. He had a passion for fishing, football and playing video games. He touched the lives of those around him with his kind heart and infectious smile.
Mr. Watkins is survived by his parents; grandparents, Willie and Edna Carolina Ingram of Evergreen of Evergreen, Ala. and Josephine Watkins (Glenn) of Belleville, Ala.; six brothers, Ah’Tavius, Jadarrin, Ni Lyerin Watkins, Titus Norther, all of Evergreen, Steven Gillis of Castleberry, Ala. and Trey Salter of Troy, Ala.; three sisters, Tamera Salter, Ariel Salter and Diamond Gillis, all of Castleberry; aunts, Latonya Ingram of Ypsilanti, Mich., Shanika Ingram of Atlanta, Ga., Tamela Lampley (April Lockwood) of Birmingham, Ala., Tina Watkins (Franklin McCreary), Tiffany Watkins, all of Belleville, Ala.; uncles, Travis (Lacretia) Ingram of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Vincent Ingram of Evergreen, Timothy (Carol) Ingram of Seattle, Wash., Willie C. (Keisha) Ingram of Birmingham, Gregory Watkins of Belleville, Tyrone (Miranda) Watkins of Monroeville, Ala.; great aunts and uncles and a host of special cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest High School with Rev. Jimmy L. Taylor, Pastor of Second Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Owassa, Ala. and Pastor Trenton Presley, officiating. Interment followed in Second Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tyekee Ingram, Tyekia Ingram, Tyquan Ingram, Steven Gillis, Demarie Dickerson and NiLyerin Watkins.
Honorary pallbearers were Cedric Goliday, Tray’Veontae and Class of 2027.

Charles Leon Parker
Mr. Charles Leon Parker, aged 83, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Pensacola, Fla. He was born in and has resided most of his life in Bay Minette, Ala. His career as a truck driver spanned over five decades, during which he traversed the landscapes of the United States and Canada. The joys of life revolved around fishing, classic westerns, comic books and the cherished company of family and friends. Among his fondest memories were the countless hours spent at Street’s in Bay Minette, where laughter and camaraderie flourished.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Granison (Beatrice Kinmon) Parker; wife, Irene Parker; three brothers, Johnny Parker, Hubert Parker, Sr. and Jacky Parker; three sisters, Bobbie Williams, Melinda Wiggins and Marie Cook.
Mr. Parker is survived by his two brothers, Dempsey (Kellie) Parker of Bay Minette and Joseph “Joe” (Alice) Parker of Pensacola, Fla.: one sister, Shelia Parker Cowser of Bay Minette; honorary grandsons, Austin Cowser, Erin Cowser, Charlie Cowser; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Graveside and burial services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Bay Minette Cemetery with Sister, Helen Stewart officiating.

Gloria Jean Sanspree
Mrs. Gloria Jean Sanspree, age 76, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 in Canoe, Ala. She was born in Bay Minette, Ala. and has resided most of her life in Canoe. She attended Canoe First Baptist Church and retired as an administrative assistant for the Board of Education for many years.
She was a woman of many passions. She loved spending time in the garden; in the kitchen through cooking and preparing delightful meals; through her professional appearance, she cherished her jewelry, adding a special touch to her outfits.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Owen (Roberta Florence Lewis) Glass; husband, Hosea Harrison Sanspree, Sr.; two sons, Anthony Todd Sanspree Hosea “Sandy” Sanspree; one brother, Dewayne Glass; one sister, Betty Loop and one niece, Sherry Lucas.
Mrs. Sanspree is survived by her one daughter, Anna Tingle of Perdido, Ala.; two brothers, Rusty (Janet) Glass of Castleberry, Ala. and David (Anita) Glass of Wawbeek, Ala; five sisters, Barbara Ann Dixon, of Flomaton, Ala., Brenda (Wayne) Bell of Brewton, Ala., Roberta Strickland of Walnut Hill, Fla., Diane (Ronnie) Byrd of Semmes, Ala., Susanne Glass of Foley, Ala.; twelve grandchildren, Brannon Sanspree, Savannah Tingle, Nick Sanspree, Breanna Sanspree, Anna Claire Sanspree, Ben Tingle, Bryar Tingle; nine great-grandchildren, Isabella Sanspree, Sophia Ikner, Caden Sanspree, Kalli Ikner, Trinnity Sanspree, Baxlee Sanspree, Kaison McCall, Gatlin Rolin, Gavin Rolin other relatives and friends.

Clifton Herman Dunsford
Mr. Clifton Herman Dunsford, age 79, passed away Friday, October 18, 2024 in Century, Fla. He was in Jay, Fla. and has resided most of his life in Century. He was a retired supervisor with Wayne Dalton Doors with many years of service.
He loved fishing and hunting, often spending his weekends outdoors, enjoying nature. As a skilled boat mechanic, he spent countless hours tinkering with engines and fixing up boats. Gardening was another one of his favorite activities. Most importantly, he cherished the time he spent with his family, creating lasting memories together in the great outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Richard (Euceder Simmons) Dunsford; wife, Barbara Holley Dunsford; son, Christopher Allen Dunsford; three brothers, Wade Dunsford, James Dunsford and Gene Dunsford; two sisters, Mollie Dunsford and Sadie Burkette; daughter-in-law, Sherry Dunsford.
Mr. Dunsford is survived by a daughter, Becky (Jamie) Cobb of Century; sister, Josie Driver of McDavid, Fla.; four grandchildren, Marc Dunsford, Mitch Dunsford, Kolbi Cobb and Kendal Payne; seven great-grandchildren, Cole Dunsford, Brayden Smith, Waylon Dunsford, Gabe Dunsford, Wesley Dunsford, Boe Payne, Jeremiah Dunsford, other relatives and friends.

Marietta Evelyn Godwin Downer
Mrs. Marietta Evelyn Godwin Downer, age 95, of Bratt, Fla., passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Bratt to Archie Eugene Godwin and Eunice Iretta Wiggins Godwin. She retired from St. Regis Paper Company after many years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jackson (Jack) Henry Downer; her siblings, Gene Godwin, Flora Vaughn and Georgia Avery.
Mrs. Downer is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline (Jackie) Downer Ward and her son-in-law, Roy Glenn Ward of Bratt; her grandchildren, Jordana Ward of Charlotte, N.C., Jocelyn (Nicholas) Drew of Walnut Hill, Fla. and her very precious great-granddaughter, Eleanor Drew.
A private graveside service for the immediate family will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Bratt-Godwin Cemetery.

Susan Anne Walker
Mrs. Susan Anne Walker, age 65, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024 in Walnut Hill, Fla. She was born in Jay, Fla. and has resided most of her life in McDavid, Fla. She was a gaming supervisor with Wind Creek with many years of service. She loved spending her days fishing; sharing peaceful experience with her children and grandchildren; cheering on her grandkids at their sports events or enjoying cozy nights together watching Alabama football and shows on Netflix. A talented cook, she delighted in preparing meals for her family and cherished moments spent shopping with them. Quiet time would often find her with a crochet hook or knitting needles, creating beautiful blankets that wrapped her family in warmth and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward E. (Lessie Mae Kirkland) Lowery and one brother, Howard Lowery.

Mary Peoples Dennis
Mrs. Mary Peoples Dennis, age 98, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024. She was born in Evergreen, Ala. to Bandy and Sally Peoples. She was a member of Mt. Triumph Baptist Church for many years, transferring later in life to Mt. Pisgah Missionary Church serving as Mother of the Church and as a called Missionary until she became disabled. She loved her Pastor, First Lady, Gods children, brothers, sisters and all saints of Jesus Christ, also especially her Missionary Society. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing, gardening and reading. She was a special chef in her own way especially in in preparing cakes and pies.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Willie David Dennis; son-in-law, Colonel Ben Adams; brothers, Bandy Peoples, Jr., James Peoples, Milton Peoples, Alfred Peoples and Robert Peoples; sisters, Laura Peoples Taylor, Alice Peoples Pugh and Thelma Peoples; great-grandchild, baby Malachi Beasley, III. Mrs. Dennis is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Peoples Adams, (daughter/caregiver) and Cheryl Dennis Williams (Don); son, Evandel Peoples (Diane), Nathaniel Dennis (Jackie) step-son; Deloise Dennis Butler (Mack); step-daughter and Kathy Dennis, step-daughter; two brothers, Walker Peoples (Lillie), Hazel Peoples; two sisters-in-law, Alice Peoples and Minnie Peoples; nine grandchildren; twelve great-children and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
