An Atmore man serving a lengthy sentence on a weapons and burglary conviction was turned down for parole for the second time this year by the Alabama Board of Pardons & Paroles.

Deonta L. Hudson was also denied parole in March. He is serving a 15-year sentence after his May 2021 conviction on a charge of possession of a pistol by a person previously convicted of a violent felony.
He was also sentenced to 3 years each on two third-degree burglary counts, but those sentences are running concurrently with the weapons conviction.
Hudson was a passenger in a vehicle that led county sheriff’s deputies, Atmore police, Poarch police and Alabama State Troopers on a high-speed chase that began near Canoe.
The chase ended when the driver of the pursued vehicle, which matched the description lawmen were given of one seen near the scenes of several burglaries on Old Bratt Road, lost control and crashed. She, Hudson and a third suspect were arrested.
Alabama Department of Corrections records show that the local man, currently housed at Kilby Correctional Facility, will not be released from prison until December 2, 2025 unless he is granted a pardon or parole.

Parole was also denied for another man convicted in Escambia County and sentenced to prison after his conviction on a Class D felony drug possession charge.
Jerry Davis Jr., whose city of residence is not listed, has served only about seven months of the 60-month sentence in prison, but Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) records show he has also been credited with 55 days in the county jail and 545 days of “pre time served.”
Davis, who is currently enrolled in ADOC’s Pre-Therapy Community Program to ready him for reentry into society, will remain in prison until July 8, 2025 unless he is granted a pardon or parole.
