Bill English

Mr. Bill English, age 66, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 in Walnut Hill, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Walnut Hill and a truck driver in the logging woods for many years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians whose hobbies included shooting pool and singing karaoke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Thomas (Minnie Ruth Coleman) English and one brother, William English.
Mr. English is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Angie English of Walnut Hill; one son, Daniel English and one daughter, Emily English, both of Walnut Hill; one brother, Tom English of Walnut Hill, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Rev. Joe Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Dry Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.
Pallbearers will be John McCullough, Jesse Grimes, Steve McCullough, John-Wesley McCullough and Tyson Milliken.

Gwendolyn Chafin Stewart

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Chafin Stewart, age 86, of Perdido, Ala. passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in Bay Minette, Ala. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to James Horace and Sallie Coleman Chafin. She retired from The Baldwin Times and was a lifelong member of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-four years, Ivan I. Stewart; her siblings, Mack Chafin, Patsy C. Presley and Melba E. Crnarich.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her son, Kent C. (Pam) Stewart of Nokomis, Ala.; two grandsons, Kenneth (April) of Seminole, Ala. and Kristopher (Robin) Stewart of Bratt, Fla; four great-grandchildren, Kody (Torri) Stewart, Kaleb Stewart, Kole Stewart, and Maggie Stewart; four great-great-grandchildren, Olivia Stewart, Harold Stewart, Annslee Stewart and Avery Stewart along with many family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Perdido with Bro. Ronald Hall and Bro. Tony Daw officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Stewart, Kristopher Stewart, Kody Stewart, Kaleb Stewart, Kole Stewart and Clark Crnarich.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 2 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church.

Aubrey Lee Till

Mr. Aubrey Lee Till, age 81, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in Atmore, Ala.  He was born in Frisco City, Ala. to Leon and Ellen Till. He worked and retired from Smurfit-Stone Container. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns on T.V., restoring older automobiles, and most importantly spending time with grandchildren and family. He and Jean loved to dance. He asked the Lord into his heart in 1998 and he loved the Lord until he was welcomed into His presence.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mary Ellen Goodman, Gladys Till Simpson and Patricia Hames; brothers, J.T. (Rebecca Lynn) Till, and his wife Till and his wife Peggy Gary Till and brother-in-law Benny Presley.
Mr. Till is survived by his wife of nearly sixty-two years, Jean; his sisters, Margaret Eddins and her husband Mark, Carolyn Presley, Fay Sanders and her husband Terry; his son Brian, and his wife, Linda; two grandchildren, Harmoni and Evan; brothers-in-law, Charlie Goodman and Bill Hames; sister-in-law, Annette Till and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service for was held Friday, September 13, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor James Boyd officiating.

 Patty Faye Inman

Mrs. Patty Faye Inman, age 71, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024 in Century, Fla. She had resided most of her life in Byrneville, Fla. She attended Holy Ground Holiness Church enjoying church services and singing in the choir. She enjoyed playing Solitaire and watching cooking shows, game shows and serving others. She loved to travel to Fort Payne, Ala. and going to the mountains.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Dallas (Syble Lonnell Tedder) Ratliff; two sons, James Oscar Wood and Jimmy Daniel Boone Wood; one brother, Dallas Ratliff; two sisters, Alma Dixon and Patsy Capps; two grandchildren and and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Inman is survived by her two daughters, Evelyn (Cliff) Emmons of Flomaton, Ala. and Belinda (Daniel) Morgan of Atmore,Ala.; one sister, Amanda Louise Amerson of Century; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 16, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Community Church with Rev. Kathy Stophel and Rev. Bobby Carnley officiating.
Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Morgan, Brenton Emmons, Quinton Emmons, Justin Amerson, Kevin Dixon, and Larry Day.

Joseph H. Protsman

Mr. Joseph H. Protsman, age 74, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024. He was born in Beatrice, Nebraska to Joseph and Anna Protsman. He was in the United States Marines from 1970-1976 and in the United States Army from 1976-1987.  His medals, badges, citations include the following: U.S. Marine Corps-National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal.  U.S. Army-Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon/Overseas Service Ribbon (3), Non-Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (2), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Qualification Badge (M16).

He enjoyed walking around town and talking to many people along the way.  He was a truck mechanic by profession and a car mechanic for family and friends.  He also enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marilyn McCammond and Ester Choitz; one daughter, Martha and one son, Lewis.

Mr. Protsman is survived by his wife of fifty years, Connie; sister, Frances Johnson; son, Robert S. Protsman; grandchildren, Morgan Powell, Danny Protsman and Robert Protsman, II; great-granddaughter, Chandler; many nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Reese and Bro. Don Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 11:30 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
