Special to Atmore News

Recently, Gulf Winds made a donation to the Escambia County Area Agency on Aging in Atmore. Gulf Winds Credit Union’s charitable arm donated $5,000 to support the agency’s ongoing work to provide local seniors with opportunities to socialize, access nutritious meals, and receive vital supportive services.
The Agency on Aging is a cornerstone of the Atmore community, dedicated to enriching the lives of seniors. Because of donors, including Gulf Winds, the agency has been able to undertake important renovations to ensure the seniors have a safe and supportive environment to host gatherings, play board games and activities, and much more. These contributions ensure that the community’s seniors not only receive the care they need, but also enjoy a vibrant and fulfilling quality of life.
“At Agency on Aging, we have accomplished so much because of Gulf Winds’ generosity,” Agency on Aging Director Shelia Brown said. “So many of the seniors have requested that we take a day trip and due to not having enough transportation to carry everyone we haven’t been able to. So, this year, with Gulf Winds’ additional gift, we may be able to grant those wishes.”
The check was presented by Gulf Winds personnel Lee Ann Allen, Jarrell Flanders, and Sha Gilchrist. Accepting on behalf of the Agency on Aging were Amy Bell, Shelia Brown, and Charlotte Purvis.
