Alabama Idol Karaoke Contest finale

Brandon Donerson was the grand prize winner on finale night of the Alabama Idol karaoke contest after a sing-off with Jeremy (Bullfrog) Ward and Shannon Peery. Ward was the runner up.
Donerson received $500 and will have an opportunity for a session during a writer’s round to write a song, and a recording studio session to record his song at the new state of the art recording studio at the Encore in Atmore.
The Strand Theatre had a packed house for the contest.
Volunteer judges were as follows:

  • Brian Crouch who has been a DJ/KJ for more than 30 years, and he played in the Canadian football league for 10 years with the Toronto Argonauts. He performed for the audience at the Karaoke Idol Contest during intermission.
  • Racheal Harris, 2022 Bama Country Female Artist of the Year. She is also a singer / songwriter and is in the group Traditions Rising. She performed for the audience, singing Reba McEntire’s “Fancy.”
  • John Harris, an acclaimed guitarist and renowned band leader and founder of Traditions Rising. He began his guitar career at the age of 16 and has over 30 years of experience playing the guitar.
    Amanda Matthews, Mystic Music DJ, organized the event.
