Velma Jackson-Wilkins, left, of New York was in Atmore recently to attend a funeral. She ran into an old friend, Larry Forney. Forney was serving on the Atmore Area Hall of Fame Committee earlier this year when Jackson-Wilkins was inducted. Sadly, she was out of the country and couldn’t attend the induction ceremony in May. Forney said she still regrets she had to miss it. Forney added, it’s good to see she remembers the folks “back home.”
