An Atmore woman was one of two people seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision that took place Friday, August 16, near Century, Fla.
According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports, the collision between a Chevrolet sports utility vehicle and a Ford pickup sent the pickup’s driver and a passenger in the SUV, the Atmore woman, to the hospital with injuries that, though serious, were not considered life-threatening.
FHP reports show the wreck happened around 4:30 p.m., near the intersection of Pine Barren Road and Escambia County Road 168, when the driver of the southbound SUV, a 34-year-old Perdido woman, “failed to stop for the stop sign on Pine Barren Road, proceeding into the intersection.”
The SUV collided with the left side of the eastbound pickup, which rolled once before coming to rest on CR 168’s southern shoulder.
The driver, a 67-year-old Century, Fla. man, was taken as a trauma alert by air ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The SUV came to rest in a ditch on the intersection’s southeastern corner. The driver was not injured, nor was a 5-year-old male passenger. The Atmore woman, 25, was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital.
FHP reports do not include the names of drivers or passengers who are involved in vehicle crashes.
