An Atmore woman, the subject of an active misdemeanor warrant, surrendered to city police August 5 but wound up with a felony drug possession charge after jail officers found methamphetamine and a pipe with meth residue in it while they were processing her into the city lockup.
According to police reports, 26-year-old Brianna Robinson came to the police department around 7:10 p.m. to turn herself in on the misdemeanor menacing warrant.
Police further reported that “while processing Robinson into the Atmore Municipal Jail the officers discovered a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.” She also had a glass pipe with meth residue in it.
Robinson was charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center (ECDC), where she remained Monday morning, August 12.
Jonathan McGhee

A Florida man was jailed August 2 on felony pot and controlled substance possession charges after police responded to a reported domestic disturbance and found a pot plant inside a vehicle at the site.
Narcotics investigators later obtained and executed search warrants that led to the discovery of two controlled substances that were either inside the house or inside the vehicles parked there.
Reports show that APD officers were sent around 8:30 p.m. to a Lindberg Avenue residence in response to a reported disturbance. On arrival, they encountered Jonathan McGhee, 55, of Pensacola, Fla., who was “standing in the yard, screaming.”
As police talked with McGhee, they discovered “a large marijuana plant in a vehicle in the driveway,” as well as “a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence.”
Search warrants were obtained for the residence and the vehicles in its driveway. Narcotics agents discovered unspecified quantities of methamphetamine and Suboxone (which is used to help with withdrawal from opiates), as well as “numerous items commonly used to ingest narcotics and evidence indicating the manufacturing of controlled substances.”
McGhee was still in jail Monday morning, August 12. He is charged with one count of second-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Brandon Jackson

Jackson

APD narcotics officers arrested a Florida man August 2 after the suspect realized that his “customer” for a proposed five-gram methamphetamine deal was actually an undercover police officer.
The police “sting” operation began to take shape when narcotics officers identified 38-year-old Brandon Jackson of Century as a “person of interest” during an ongoing investigation. An undercover agent contacted Jackson to arrange for a purchase of meth, and the agent and Jackson agreed to meet in Flomaton.
Jackson saw the trap, but too late. He took off running when drug agents exited the “customer’s” vehicle wearing marked tactical vests. He was caught after a brief foot pursuit and was in possession of more than five grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale.
The Century man, who has since been released, was processed into the ECDC on one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and attempting to elude a police officer.
Alisha Bradley

Bradley

An August 4, wee-hours APD traffic stop led to felony drug possession charges against a Flomaton woman.
According to reports, the traffic stop was conducted around 2 a.m. along U.S. 31, when an officer “observed the vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel.”
The officer noted that the vehicle’s driver, 45-year-old Alisha Bradley, was “acting strangely,” so he requested assistance from a county sheriff’s office K9 unit. The dog alerted on the vehicle, and a search turned up two grams of marijuana, approximately a gram of crack cocaine, and “other items commonly used to ingest narcotics.”
Bradley has been released from the ECDC, where she was being held on one count each of possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jonathan Hall

An Atmore man was jailed August 3 on a felony drug possession charge after his vehicle was stopped by city police because it displayed an expired license plate.
The pullover occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Alabama 21. The driver, Jonathan Hall, 37, reportedly granted his consent to a search of the vehicle. The search yielded a small amount of a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for meth, along with methamphetamine residue in several items commonly used to ingest narcotics.
Hall was arrested and charged with one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was processed into the ECDC, from which he was later freed on bond.
Jailon Hall

An Atmore man who didn’t “buckle up” while operating his vehicle on August 3, was jailed on felony drug possession charges after police found a small amount of synthetic marijuana in the vehicle.
Police reports show that Jailon Hall, 20, was pulled over on Crow Street because he wasn’t wearing a seat belt. A check of Hall’s driver’s license revealed that the local man was wanted by the county sheriff’s office on two outstanding felony arrest warrants.
The officer placed Hall, who reportedly gave consent to a search of his vehicle, under arrest, then added possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges after about a gram of synthetic cannabis (Spice) and a container with Spice residue was found.
Hall remained behind bars early Monday, August 12.
Scott Peck

An Atmore man was arrested August 8, four months after a case worker with the Alabama Department of Human Resources contacted city police with concerns that a local man might be misusing the financial resources of an elderly person.
According to police reports, an APD investigator, the DHR case worker and the Escambia County District Attorney’s Office examined financial records and found enough evidence for an arrest.
Scott Peck, 58, was charged with one count of financial exploitation of the elderly. He remained in the ECDC early Monday, August 12.
