Officials of Coastal Alabama Community College announced last week that four unidentified campuses were locked down after an early morning tip from an unnamed area police agency warned of a “verbal threat” against the college.
Coastal Alabama Police Department was notified of the “verbal threat” around 7:06 a.m. on July 23.
An investigation determined that probable cause existed for a “terroristic threat” warrant, and the four CACC campuses “located in the proximity of the individual who made the threat” were locked down “out of an abundance of caution.”
The lockdowns were lifted after Coastal Alabama police arrested the suspect and issued an “all clear.”
CACC officials declined to release any further details on the incident, and it is not known if the Atmore campus was affected.
“We cannot release any further information due to maintaining the integrity of the investigation and the judicial process,” reads a press release from the college’s administration.
