Terence Tolbert places candles on the memorial to his son, 22-year-old Jatyrain Aquamini ‘Tank’ Tolbert, who was shot to death a year earlier, on July 25, 2023. Tolbert said he decorates the shrine — which is directly across the street from the junction of Brooks Lane and King Street, where his son crashed his car after being shot — on holidays, in his son’s memory. A crowd of more than 80 people turned out for the memorial service, which ended with the release of dozens of balloons.
