Douglas Martin

Mr. Douglas Martin, age 85, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, July 15, 2024. He was born to Elsie Martin and Willis McKinley McGhee, Sr. He was a member of St. Anna’s Episcopal Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and watching “Alabama Football”. He worked hard all of his life, starting with the potato sheds. He and a group from Atmore, heard about jobs in Illinois, so they all left and went to a small town called Zion to get work. They all went to work for “Good Year”. They were to be some of his best friends for life. Jack Amos, John Arthur McGhee, the Gibson Boy’s, and several more. He remained in Zion with his second wife until her passing. He returned home to live with his daughter. He was fun loving and loved to prank and joke around.

He was preceded in death by his two wives, Dorothy Lee Martin and Shelby Jean Martin; three brothers, Otha Martin, Billy Martin, LeeVan Martin; five sisters, Jeanette Beck, Martha Manning, Velma Amos, Helen Price and Imogene Sheets.
Mr. Martin is survived by his one daughter, Leasha E. Martin; two grandsons, Walker and Elijah Martin; one step-daughter, Roxanne Wallen; three step-sons, Frank, Patrick and Tim Wallen; three sisters, Jean Ardis, Mary Jane Tullis and Nancy Lowery; five brothers, J.T. Holland, Terry McGhee, George McGhee, Kent McGhee and Danny McGhee; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Rev. Don Sanks officiating. Burial will follow at Judson-Creek Indian Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 19, 2024 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.
Pallbearers will be Brennen Estian, Walker Martin, Britton Morris, Bo Slate and Latisha Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elijah Martin and Peter “Stink” Smith.

Angeline Marie “Angie” Carnley

Ms. Angeline Marie “Angie” Carnley, age 63, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 in Mobile, Ala.  She was born in Century, Fla. to Gene Raymond Holloway and Inez Gay Steedley.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Theresa Jane Messer. 

Ms. Carnley is survived by her children, Randell (Alycia) Carnley of Charleston, S.C. and Robert (Holly) Carnley of Huxford, Ala.; father of their children, Ronnie Carnley; her siblings, Dewayne (Joan) Turman of Frostproof, Fla., Michael (Jennifer) Turman of Andalusia, Ala. and Lisa Turman of Ga.; her grandchildren, Katelyn Carnley and Jacob Carnley; many nieces, nephews, family, friends and her life partner, Junior Salter of Hanford.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery in Pineview, Ala. with Bro. Tad McMullen officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Bennie Charles “Chuck” Presley, Jr. 

Presley

Mr. Bennie Charles “Chuck” Presley, Jr., age 52, of Wawbeek, Ala., passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024. He was born in Monroeville, Ala. to Bennie C. and Carolyn Till Presley, Sr.  He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.  He was faithful and humble in carrying out God’s mission sharing the Gospel of Christ. Chuck valued studying his Bible and cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing with his dog, Cali and working in his yard.  He was a Technician with Frontier Communications.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Charles Presley, Sr.

Mr. Presley is survived by his wife, Tammy Jefferies Presley; his children, Blake (Mary) Presley, Madison (Matthew) Cook and Ashtyn (Nate) Donald; his grandchildren, Griffin Cook and Eden Presley; his mother, Carolyn Presley; his sisters, Ronda Woodard, Regina (Huey) Swilley, Melissa Presley and Chasity (Robert) McGillivray; his extended family, Karissa Knight and her children, Peyton Lee, Landon Lee and Remi Knight.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church with Bro. Floyd Harris, Pastor Gene King and his son-in-law, Bro. Matthew Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Doug Murphy, Chuck Thompson, Keith Classen, Dave Landis, Brandon Blanton, Mike Thomas, Daniel Harris and John Salter.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 2 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church.

Willie Lucille Robbins

Mrs. Willie Lucille Robbins, age 89, of Bratt, Fla., passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024. She was born to Willie Wayne and Ruby Hall. She was a 1953 graduate of Ernest Ward High School. She had the heart of a traveler exploring new places, creating memories that would last her a lifetime. Smoky Mountains being destination of choice. She was a simple woman who found comfort and joy in the morning coffee and talks she shared with her sister-in-law, Glennie Robbins.  She was also an advent storyteller and had the most interesting stories that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren prided themselves in hearing. Moreover, she was able to make a signature gumbo that was swoon-worthy. She was an incredible woman, a woman with drive, and a woman with kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, James Alton Robbins.

Mrs. Robbins is survived by her son, Matt (Margo) Robbins of Bratt; two grandchildren, Harmony (Mike) Ramsey of Grand Bay, Ala. and Sheldon (Kelly) Robbins of Bratt; four great-grandchildren, Logan Bell and Mackenzie Bell, Madison Robbins and Maddox Robbins, plus a host of other beloved relatives.

Graveside and burial service will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Godwin Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Hall officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Petty Funeral Home.

James Robert Rittenberry         

Rittenberry

Mr. James Robert Rittenberry, age 74, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024. He was born in Nashville, Tenn. to James C. and Ersa Myrtle Katherine Cole Rittenberry.  He served in the United States Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Marksman M-14.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara Rittenberry Craighead.

Mr. Rittenberry is survived by his life partner, Krystyna Boles and his sister, Mary Lee Boring.

A celebration of life service will held later in Gallatin, Tenn.

John Franklin “Johnny” Lord
Mr. John Franklin “Johnny” Lord, age 83, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024 in Atmore, Ala. He was born in Uriah, Ala.; living many years in Garfield, Ky. before residing in Atmore the past three years. He worked in the oil field for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge (Kentucky) and Friendly Holiness Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending church. Fishing was a favorite thing to do, along with singing, playing his guitar and Alabama football. Eating out with family and friends, being able to watch westerns and Gospel television.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Franklin (Hattie Mae Brooks) Lord; wife, Glenda Lord; one son, Rodney Lane Lord; one daughter, Tammy Annette Blackwell; three brothers, Robert Edward Lord, Thomas Eugene Lord and Roger Lord; and three sisters, Gloria Almeda Lord, Lillie Mae Harris and Ella Mae Boyette.

Mr. Lord is survived by his two sons, John Daniel Lord and Vince Edward Lord, both of Birmingham, Ala.; one daughter, Lorie (James) Mims of Birmingham; one brother, Mason Lord of Pineville, Ky.; three sisters, Irene Lord of Atmore, Mary Elizabeth Harris and Glenda Diane Kennington-Arrington, all of Milton, Fla.; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Rev. Ray Ward and Rev. Greg Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Semirah Springs Cemetery.

Frederick (Rick) Cortez White 

Mr. Frederick (Rick) /Cortez White, age 65, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024. He was born to Evelyn Brown White-Harvell and the late Frederick George White in Tampa, Fla. (step-parents, James Harvell). He was also blessed to have a second mother, Idella White. He was a member of Gaines Chapel AME Church. He served in the US Army and later the Alabama National Guard. He was “Mr. Telephone Man” employed with Frontier Communications for thirty-three years. He was filled with laughter and had a smile for all he knew.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Darrian White and sister, Merissa White.

Mr. White is survived by his loving wife, Theresa (Teri) White; children, Frederick C. (Shieta) White, Jr., Marquita White (Justin Conn), Kandace Walker (Paul W
inters), Rodney Avant, Oneius White, Elijah White, Elaijah (Samia) White, Elisha White and Ethan White; sisters, Malica (Raleigh) Evans, Shana Harvell and Alan, Michelle White, Mesha (John) White, Lavonda Parker and Cassandra Mock; brothers, Anthony Harvell, James (Pear) Harvell and a special sister, Tommie Jo Johnson; grandchildren, Aniya and Nevaeh White, Ty’kelui and Mukyia Frye, Ziakya and Te’xiara Finklea, Kelvin Cooker, Jr. and Malachai and Malayah White; two great-grandchildren, Karson and Kylan Dailey; special friends, Larry Forney, James Harris, Kenneth Dickerson, Willie Clarence Brown and Jimmy Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Cleitis Walker, Presiding and Rev. Michael Wilson, Eulogy. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Marco Jones, Thomas Knight, Jr., Kendrell Dickerson, Calvin Dickerson, Steve Johnson, Jewel Mason, Harold Mason, Larry Forney, Jimmy Brown.

James Arthur (Sonny) Moore

Mr. James Arthur (Sonny) Moore, age 80, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024. He was born to Cornelius Rothschild and John Henry Moore in Atmore. After high school graduation he relocated to New York for a short while, returned home and remained there until his passing. He was known around town as “The Taxi Man”. Uncle sonny would happily provide rides to those who needed transportation. He also had his hands in teaching nephews, God children, adoptive children and others how to fish, his favorite past time.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Odell Moore, John Henry Moore, Jr., Robert Moore, Lucille Moore and Quindell Beverly; four sisters, Velma (Alice) Dailey, Helen Duvall, Loree Moore James and Susan Moore Beverly.

Mr. Moore is survived by one of eleven siblings, Darnell Rollins of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; special friend, Carolyn Russell along with the children and grandchildren of Carolyn Viola “Lady” Russell, Charles “Jimmy” Russell, Jayshawn Farmer, Tiana Farmer and Nyla Russell, who he adopted all as his own; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home with Prophetess Shantel Hardy officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.

Jannie Mae Rudolph Stallworth

Mrs. Jannie Mae Rudolph Stallworth, age 87, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Atmore Nursing Center. She was born in Atmore, Ala. to Tab Rudolph and raised by Estelle Lee James and Hettie Lee. She was a cherished member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. Her dedication to Christ, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and Rev. Dr. Michael Wilson, pastor were the cornerstones of her life. Despite losing her eyesight, she always recognized the voices of her friends and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Stallworth; Frederick Dailey;

Mrs. Stallworth is survived by her daughter, Lillian (Gary) Forney; grandchildren, Vernametres (Walter) McCracklin of Atmore, Katara (Lester) Thomas of concord, N.C., Gary Forney, Jr. of Chesapeake, Va., Lachasity (Deon) Acklin of Concord, N.C., Raashad Forney and Raamond Forney, both the Atlanta, Ga.; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Willie Rudolph of Detroit, Mi.; two aunts; one uncle and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Michael L. Wilson, Sr., host pastor/eulogy. Interment follow at Stallworth Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Flower bearers were her family and friends.
