An Atmore woman was seriously injured July 4 when she became the third vehicle involved in a three-vehicle crash near Pollard that claimed the life of a Missouri man.
Alabama State Troopers reports show the fatal collision occurred around 4:17 p.m. on U.S. 31, near Old U.S. 31, approximately six miles south of Brewton.
Troopers reported that a 2017 Jeep Liberty, driven by Shirley A. Moore, 60, of Higginsville, Mo., struck a 2020 Ram 1500 driven by 39-year-old Demetruis L. Preyer of Pensacola, Fla.
The Jeep was then struck by a 2020 Hyundai Sonata driven by Carolyn A. Albert, 55, of Atmore.
A passenger in the Jeep, 69-year-old William H. Moore, also of Higginsville, Mo., was seriously injured. He was taken to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital in Brewton where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Ms. Albert and Shirley Moore were taken by air ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, and Preyer was taken to D.W. McMillan. Updated medical conditions were not available for any of the victims by Tuesday’s press deadline.
Troopers noted that Shirley Moore was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash.
State troopers are continuing their investigation into the crash.
