Norma Lou Godwin Waters
Mrs. Norma Lou Godwin Waters, a beloved grandmother, gentle soul, and devoted follower of Christ, passed away at the age of 89 in Pensacola, Fla., on Thursday, June 27, 2024. She was born in Canoe, Ala. to Wiley Sylvester Godwin and Bertha Lee Morris Godwin. She was employed as an Instructor with Chemstrand – The Monsanto Company. She was a graduate of Escambia County High School. She was a cherished member of Pensacola Baptist Temple guiding her actions and filling her days with purpose and joy. Her family was at the heart of her world. She created a tradition of gathering her loved ones every Christmas Eve, where her home was filled with warmth, love, and the aroma of her incredible meals that nourished both body and soul.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Godwin.
Mrs. Waters is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Waters; her children, Norma Cheryl (Wayne) Richardson of Atmore, Ala., Joe Frank (Laura) Posey of Chumuckla, Fla., Theresa Ann Gibson and Wanda Kay (Ralph) Amick, both of Pensacola; her siblings, Roy (Nora) Godwin of Bay Minette, Ala., Doris Fair of Shreveport, La., Joann (Jim) Simpson of Pensacola and Peggy Tinney of Monroeville, Ala.; her grandchildren, Christopher Frank Posey, John Michael Bailey, Steven Wayne Richardson, Petie Joe Bailey, Matthew Scott Posey, Hunter Richard Higdon, and Zachary Richard Higdon; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 5, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Christopher Frank Posey, John Michael Bailey, Petie Joe Bailey, Matthew Scott Posey, Hunter Richard Higdon and Zachary Richard Higdon.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 5, 2024 from 1p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Ira Warren Garman Jr.
Mr. Ira Warren Garman Jr., age 83, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 at his residence. A native of Pensacola, Fla. and lifelong resident of Cantonment, he attended Farm Hill Fellowship Church in Cantonment, Fla. He loved his family and greatly enjoyed spending time with them. He liked hunting and fishing, most importantly he loved to work and instilled this in his family. He enjoyed going to church and spent countless hours going to Gospel singings, his favorite singing was held at Little River Holiness Church. He greatly enjoyed going to Camp Meetings with the church and with his loving wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Warren (Lula-Belle King) Garman Sr. and sisters, Carol Creighton and Barbara Butler.
Mr. Garman is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Zelema Brown Garman; daughters, Kim (Michael) Garman-Jones, Tracie (Shane) Smith and Dana Garman, all of Cantonment; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special friend, Ray Gene White; numerous friends, wonderful neighbors, and many church friends

George Thomas Boone, Sr.
Mr. George Thomas Boone, Sr; age 82, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in Atmore, Ala. He was a lifelong resident of Little River, Ala. and attended Stockton School. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He spent many years logging the local woods.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Boone; mother, Lillian Estelle Phillips; one daughter, Cynthia Wessler; three brothers, Clayton Boone, Kenneth Boone and John Boone; four sisters, Melba Boone, Martha Holder, Shirley Pinter, and June Godwin.
Mr. Boone is survived by his two sons, George Boone, Jr. and Anthony Thomas Boone, both of Little River; three brothers, Leroy Boone and Joseph (Nina) Boone all of Little River and Bernard Boone, Jr; of Charlottesville, Va.; three sisters, Donna (RT) Harry and Delilah Dinzeo, all of Va. and Alma Woods of Atmore; three grandchildren, Shannon Lee Boone, Dustin Michael Boone, Brittany Jean Weaver and other relatives.
Graveside and burial services will be held Monday, July 8, 2024, at 10 at Mamie’s Chapel Cemetery with Elder John Glenn Gregson officiating.

Betty Roark
Mrs. Betty Roark, age 87, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great -grandmother, and a follower of Christ, passed away in Atmore, Ala. Thursday, July 4, 2024. She was born in Chester, Ill. to Levi Brock and Della L. Miller. She worked at Walmart in St. Peters, Mo. and attended the United Methodist Church in St. Peters. She later moved to Atmore with her son and began attending Presley Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil J Roark; her sisters, Ruth Ray (Brock), Dorothy Hardy (Brock) and Shirley Morgan (Brock); her brothers, Levi Brock and Floyd Brock; her children, Virginia Keaveny (Roark) and Virgil Lloyd Roark and her granddaughter, Danielle Roark.
Mrs. Roark is survived by one brother, Robert Brock; two sons, Jerry Roark and Ronald Roark; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will take place at a later date in Park Charles Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
