A Dallas County man was arrested June 20 by local police after he reportedly ordered several tires from a local business and tried to use stolen credit card information to pay for them.
According to Atmore Police Department reports, investigators were contacted around 8:20 a.m. that day by an unnamed local business “concerning multiple orders of tires totaling several thousand dollars.”
The business owner told police he was contacted by an out-of-state resident whose credit card information had been stolen. He said the suspect, later identified as Derrick Harris, 45, of Selma, had just made an order using the stolen card and was expected to pick up the tires later that afternoon.
Officers returned to the local business around 1 p.m. and took Harris into custody. After they interviewed the Selma man, he was processed into the Escambia County Detention Center (ECDC) on one count each of first-degree theft of property and first-degree (aggravated) theft by deception.
APD Sgt. Darrell McMann reported that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible, as well as additional charges against Harris, who was released on bond June 24.
