Judith Marie Snider

Mrs. Judith Marie Snider, age 82, of Huxford, Ala. passed away Monday, May 27, 2024 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Castleberry, Ala. to Herbert Henderson and Lucile Etheridge Henderson. She was a member of Atmore Baptist Temple.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Douglas B. Snider and her son, Randy Snider.

Mrs. Snider is survived by her children, Gwen (Wayne) Silcox and Marsha (Eddie) Wilson both of Goodway, Ala., Sandy (Christopher) Fortune of Salt Lake, Utah, Wanda Snider, Kenny Ray Snider, Wendell Snider, all of Huxford, AL, Karen Snider and Sherry (James) Strength, both  of Atmore, Ala., Tim (Amy) Snider of Navarre, Fla. along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Huxford Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Doug Odom officiating. Interment will follow in Huxford Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 31, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Linda “Kaye” Helton

Mrs. Linda “Kaye” Helton, age 68, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024. A longtime resident of Atmore, Ala., Kaye lived life to its fullest, never missing an opportunity to spend time with the family she loved dearly. Ever the vacation planner, her greatest joy was making memories with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren she absolutely adored.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mavis Singleton and father, Bernard Singleton; one son, Brian Helton.

Mrs. Helton is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Chet Helton, of Atmore; brothers, Chris Singleton (Erin) of Etheridge, Tenn. and Garrie Singleton (Shannon) of Robinsonville, Ala.; one son, Chad Helton (Suzanne) of McDavid, Fla., and a daughter, Ashley Trawick (Brad) of Walnut Hill, Fla.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren (with another on the way).

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Atmore with her pastor, Dr. Kevin Garrett, officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Atmore.

Carlton Joseph Adams, Jr.

Mr. Carlton Joseph Adams, Jr., age 63, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024 in Brewton, Ala.  He was born in Harrison, Texas and has resided most of his life in Kaplan, La. and has resided in Brewton, Ala. the past five years. He was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church. He worked in the oilfield for many years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially when it came time to BBQ and cookout; Cajun cooking was his favorite thing to cook. Fishing and tinkering were some things he greatly enjoyed. He also appreciated listening to Cajun music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton Joseph (Beverly Stelly) Adams, Sr; and one brother, Michael Adams.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Adams of Brewton; two sisters, Trissilla Adams of Pineville, La.; Madonna Mulina of Kaplan; one step-sister, Shawn Broussard of Abbeville, La.; close nieces and nephews, Joseph Kelley, Amber Bullard, Travis Mire and other numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

The family will receive friends Friday, May 31, 2024 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. with a Rosary starting at 3 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Father Patrick Madden officiating.

Jimmy Leaford “Plowboy” Kilcrease

Mr. Jimmy Leaford “Plowboy” Kilcrease, age 86, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at his residence in Perdido, Ala. He was born in Alabama. He was a resident of Perdido since 1962. He attended Perdido Baptist Church. He was proud of his service in the United States Air Force. He was honored to ride with the Patriot Guard to honor veterans for their service. He was a 30-year employee of International Paper Company showing his dedication and strong work ethic. He loved his family, enjoyed hiking in the mountains. Riding his motorcycle was something he greatly enjoyed doing as well. Using his telescope to look at the stars and to see everything in the sky was something he enjoyed doing. In his later years he became fond of mowing grass and greatly loved doing so.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Ether Veasey Kilcrease; brothers, Tom Kilcrease and Leon Kilcrease; sister, Lenore Hollinghead; grandchildren, Wesley Keith Kilcrease and Tiffany Kilcrease Parker.

Mr. Kilcrease is survived by his fabulous four children, Buddy Kilcrease and Vicki (Watson) Bishop, all of Perdido, Jamie (Missy) Kilcrease of Brewton, Ala., and Traci Kersey of Pensacola, Fla.; ten grandchildren, Braydon, Maddux, Tyler, Reed, Reina, Trent, Kevin and Justin; seven great-grandchildren, Teddy, Bengi, Liam, Grace, Brennan, Evelyn, Ashlee, Bo and Livia; one great-great-grandson, Kholson.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Dr. Brad Doss officiating.

Cynthia Michelle Jay

Mrs. Cynthia Michelle Jay, age 56, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in Mobile, Ala. She was a lifelong resident of Atmore, Ala. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She loved her animals, and enjoyed watching westerns and Alabama Football. She was known for being a Disney and Elvis Presley collector.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert “Bobby” McCall.

Mrs. Jay is survived by her mother, Faye (Joe) Collins of Orange Beach, Ala.; three sons, Michael (Holly) McCurdy of Flomaton, Ala., Chris (Stormie) McCurdy of Atmore and Jonathan (Brandy) McCurdy of Pollard, Ala.; one brother, Robert (Shannon) McCall of Atmore; six grandchildren, Robert, Gabriel, Marina, Chloe, Tristan and Wiley, two nieces, Ashlynn McCall, Kyleigh McCall; one nephew, Blake McCall, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Monday, June 3, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Pastor Farron Wilson officiating.

Leonard Stanley 

Mr. Leonard Stanley, age 96, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024 in Atmore, Ala. He was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore. He was a faithful member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church. He proudly served in the United States Army, a very active member of the Atmore VFW, doing many fish fries and other activities throughout the years. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed square dancing at the VFW. He was a very skilled carpenter, loved spending time with family especially when they could all go camping. Watching westerns and ballgames was also something he loved to do to pass the time. He greatly enjoyed spending time at his river camp and all the time he could spend on the water fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Watt and Ruby Bell Stanley; wife, Kathryn Watford Stanley; son, Ronald Stanley; great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Faith Stanley; two brothers, Cecil Stanley and Aubrey Stanley; sister, Gertrude Childress.

Mr. Stanley is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Charlie) Woods of Atmore; brother, Windom Stanley of Spanish Fort, Ala.; three grandchildren, Sharlie Terry and Robbie (Jennifer) Stanley, both of Atmore and Scottie (Toshia) Woods of Uriah, Ala.; three great-grandchildren, Robert Stanley, Colton Stanley and Ava Woods.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 3, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. Until service time at 11a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel funeral Homes, LLC.

Mr. Quamar Zickeyous Parker, age 16, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024. He was born in Pensacola, Fla. to Shatele Yvette Parker and Terrence Eugene Craig Jones.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Teresa Parker Armstrong; great-grandparents, Olivette Williams, Lee Williaams, Jr. and Vera Jordan; uncle, Isiah Jones.

Mr. Parker is survived by his parents; grandparents, Issac (Mary) Parker, Dave and Pamela Jones; sisters, Kiah and Ziah; brothers, Elijah and Jahlil; uncles, Korey (Dominique) Dailey, Daniko Jones, Dave Jones Jr. and Josiah Jones; aunts, Shante (Ezraa) Parker Godfrey and Brittain Jones; great-uncles, Lee 9tameka) Williams, Michael Jordan and John Jordan; great-aunts, Rita (Roderick) Gulley and Vicky (Terry) Miller; a close friend, Jesse and a host of cousins, family and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 3, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with interment following in Fairview Cemetery.

Flower bearers were his cousins and aunts.
