Mack Henry Myrick

Mr. Mack Henry Myrick, age 84, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 in Little Rock, Ala. He was a native of Little Rock. He was a member of Corinth Primitive Baptist Church serving as a Deacon. He retired from the Escambia County Alabama Road Department with many years of service. He loved the outdoors and vacationing with his wife. He enjoyed wood working and tinkering, on most everything and watching antique car shows and a good western.

He was preceded by his parents, Willie Harvey (Cumi Lynch) Myrick; two brothers, Billy Myrick and Aaron Myrick; two sisters, Margaret Smith and Flora Lou Black; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Myrick is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Jean Myrick of Little Rock; one son, Michael (Brandy) Myrick of Little Rock; two daughters, Carolyn (Paul) Pearson of Poarch, Ala. and Ellen (Earl) Crook of Brewton, Ala.; four grandchildren, Nathan Lambeth, Phillip (Sabrina) Myrick, Bryant (Autumn) Crook, Morgan (Zach) Myrick; one step-grandson, Justin Pearson, one great-grandchild, Colter Myrick; special family member, Michelle Lucas; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Bro. Gene Freeland officiating. Burial will follow at Little Rock Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Pallbearers will be William Frazier, Shawn Amos, Joey Thomley, Chris Perry, Harold Peacock and Randall Miller.

Honorary pallbearer will be Arthur Ramer.

Gerald “Jerry” McAnally

Mr. Gerald “Jerry” McAnally, age 58, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 following a fearless and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Atmore, Ala. He was a graduate of Auburn University Montgomery teaching at Repton Middle School and Brewton City Schools before furthering his education at The University of West Alabama

After receiving his Specialist Degree, he served as assistant principal at Excel High School and principal at Thomasville Middle School. While he enjoyed teaching history and leading teachers in his administrative roles, coaching was his passion. He coached football, track, basketball, and tennis. “Coach Mac” didn’t just coach sports, he coached lives. He was always ready with a kind, encouraging, or motivating word. He helped many understand that there is a difference between winning and winning graciously. He always saw the best in everyone.

Regardless of his numerous accomplishments in education and coaching, the titles he carried with the most pride were “Dad” and “Papa”. He always put his family first and he was most happy when all of his family was together. He instilled in his family a love for each other, a love for Auburn Football, and an unwavering faith in the Lord.

He was proceeded in death by his mother, Estelle White McAnally; his father Edward McAnally and step-mother, Marie McAnally; grandparents, Jake and Tishie White and Ernest and Ellafara McAnally; special sister-in-law, Ramona McCall; brother-in-law, Mark Lukkar and two grandchildren who were born into heaven.

Mr. McAnally is survived by the love of his life, his wife of twenty-one years, Sharon McAnally; his three sons, Caleb (Kinsey) McAnally of Canton, Ga., Christopher (Ashley) Johnson of Wetumpka, Ala. and Michael McAnally of Dawsonville, Ga.; granddaughter, Rosalie Johnson; grandson, Elijah Johnson; his two brothers, Douglas (Tiffany) McAnally of Huntsville, Ala. and Timothy (Marcy) McAnally of Atmore; brother-in-law, Steve McCall of Pace, Fla,; sister-in-law, Marian (Roger) Kays of Molino, Fla.; father-in-law, George (Linda) Marlow of Molino; his three aunts, Pauline McAnally of Bay Minette, Ala., Pauline Callahan of Molino and Carol (Tom) Truesdale of Pensacola, Fla.; numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, colleagues, students, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 2 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Don Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Derek Korbe, Louis Miller, Collin Graves, Conner Denton, Ashton Wilson, Tyler Ethridge, Jaren Jackson and Darrion “Woo” Salter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Atmore First Assembly Mission Team, (past and present) T.R. Miller Coaching Staff, past principles and assistant.

Floyd Wilson, Jr.

Mr. Floyd Wilson, Jr., age 72, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at his home. He was born in Leesville, La. He retired with the State of Alabama Highway Department with many years of service. He was an avid Alabama Football Fan, who also enjoyed watching Nascar racing and westerns. He enjoyed listening to country music and bluegrass. He had many places he loved to travel such as the mountains, traveling to Texas and many other destinations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd (Gussie Sanders) Wilson, Sr. and one brother, Charles Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his loving wife of twenty-five years, Beth Wilson of Atmore; one sister, Esther Marie (Duane) Dortch of Flomaton, Ala.; other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Larry Eugene Godwin         

Mr. Larry Eugene Godwin, age 72, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He was born in Atmore to the late Ernest Eugene “Gene” and Myrlene Stewart Goodwin. He was the owner/operator of Escambia Auto Parts and Detailing.  He also served in the Army National Guard.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Garry Godwin and Shelly Godwin.

Mr. Godwin is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Becky Wooten Godwin; his daughters, Wendy Godwin Classen, Kayla Godwin and Krista Howell, all of Atmore; his sister, Deborah (David) Ronzone Sr. of Bratt, Fla.; his grandchildren, Blaine O’Brien (Brandee Barrow), Loryn O’Brien, Elliot Classen and Ann-Elise Classen along with his great-grandchildren, John-Marshall O’Brien, Lilly Kate O’Brien, Rowan O’Brien and Kylee Clifford.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, Fla.

Active pallbearers will be Kayla Godwin, Chris Kirk, Jimmy O’Brien, Joey Overstreet, Kevin Classen and Sammy Lee.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 2 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Myrtle Elizabeth Comalander

Mrs. Myrtle Elizabeth Comalander, age 75, of McDavid, Fla. passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024. She was a native of McDavid and lived in Clearwater, Fla. She really loved fishing, dancing and got enjoyment out of sitting on her front porch drinking a good cup of coffee. She loved to cook for family and friends, especially biscuits. She always enjoyed traveling to Texas with her husband and children while he worked. Her favorite place to go eat was “Chinese Food”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter (Myrtle Sanders) Jernigan; two brothers, Carmel Coleman and James Jernigan; three sisters, Patricia Jernigan, Mary Francis Jernigan and Lois Livingston; one grandson, Rodie Comalander; three great-grandchildren, Dloni Casey, Liam Comalander and Tyler Addison, Jr.; one son-in-law, Larry McLain.

Mrs. Comalander is survived by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, James Edward Comalander of McDavid; one son, Dennis Edward Comalander of McDavid; three daughters, Tina Comalander (Buddy) Randall of Century, Fla., Connie Comalander ‘Mbeng, of Pensacola, Fla. and Melissa Comalander McLain of Robertsdale; one sister, Joyce Jernigan Fowler of Texas; fifteen grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC with Rev. Fred Stallworth officiating. Burial will follow at Christian Home Cemetery.

The family did receive friends Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Roy Clinton Hattaway, Jr. 

Mr. Roy Clinton Hattaway, Jr., age 76, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 in Atmore, Ala. He was born in Meridian, Miss. He was a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Clinton (Donie Crenshaw) Hattaway, Sr.

Mr. Hattaway is survived by his sister, Cathy (Jack) Dessommes’ of Ocean Springs, Miss.
