In September the Atmore Memorial VFW Auxiliary held a stuffed animal drive to distribute animals to first responder agencies to give children in emergency / traumatic situations. More than 30 people of all ages took part in the 13th annual Women of Distinction (WOD) Cancer Awareness Walk, held Saturday, October 14. The group walked from Atmore City Hall to Houston Avery Park, and marchers paid $10 each. Pride of Atmore’s Ribs on Ridgeley event became Ribs at the Encore at the Strand Thursday, October 12, when the sit-down dinner was moved to a new venue. Dinner was served beginning at 5:30, and some folks were waiting at the door for the barbecue rib dinners. Some diners came later as evidenced by the empty chairs at the long tables in Encore.
