Five suspects, from five different cities, were arrested by Atmore police on drug possession charges —four of them felonies — during the period August 8-10.
*A Walnut Hill, Fla. man was arrested August 8 after he reportedly made an improper lane change on South Main Street. The traffic stop, which included the discovery of three illegal substances, occurred around 7:25 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle — Ricky Foster, 53 — gave police consent to search the vehicle he was driving, and police discovered approximately 20 grams of a green, leafy substance that was identified as synthetic cannabis (Spice), as well as an undisclosed number of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine pills and a glass pipe with residue in it that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Foster, who was released from the Escambia County Detention Center (ECDC) August 9 on bond, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
*A Brewton woman and a Frisco City man were arrested around 9:30 p.m., August 9 after an APD patrol officer conducted a traffic stop when a vehicle’s driver failed to maintain its lane.
The occupants of the vehicle — Heather Cash, 31, of Brewton, and a 43-year-old Frisco City man — gave the officer consent to search the vehicle.
Police found approximately 4 grams of a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with 2 pills that field-tested positive for cocaine, a plastic baggy that contained approximately a gram of a green, leafy substance that field-tested positive for marijuana, and an electronic scale.
Cash and her companion were both placed under arrest. She is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. The Frisco City man was not charged with any felonies but was charged with one count each of second-degree marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
Both suspects remained behind bars Friday afternoon, August 11.
*A Cusseta man — Lucus Daniels Johns, 41 — was arrested August 8 and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
ECDC records show that Johns was released on bond August 9.
*Atmore resident Brandon Kane Manac, 40, was arrested August 10 on felony drug possession charges.
He was found to be in possession of hydrocodone, a Schedule II narcotic, as well as Tramadol, a Schedule IV narcotic, and acetaminophen.
According to ECDC records, Manac — charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance — was released on bond later that day.
