Traffic was backed up for more than a mile on South Main Street Monday evening, May 8, as locals waited for a rare chance to experience Ponderosa Party Burgers at David’s Catfish House, which originally operated as The Ponderosa. Some diners reported waiting in line almost 90 minutes to get the miniature sandwiches, offered at 50 cents each, while they lasted, in celebration of the restaurant’s 30th year in business. The last time the iconic burgers made an appearance was 2018, when they were voted Best Taste Commercial entry in Atmore’s Taste of the South event.
