Glenda Ann Walston

Mrs. Glenda Ann Walston, age 69, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in Pensacola, Fla. She has resided in Century, Fla. most of her life. She was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. She was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors and going camping. She enjoyed playing video games, and playing with her dog.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Dora Ann Rolin; husband, Clifford R. Walston; two great-grandsons, Dalton Carroll, TJ Carroll; five brothers, Gilbert Rolin, Glenn Rolin, Jewel Rolin, Joe Rolin, Jerry Rolin, and one sister, Gloria Jean Carnley.
Mrs. Walston is survived by her one son, Vincent R. Walston of Molino, Fla.; three daughters, Sandra Lee Walston and Victoria Carroll, all of Century and Sherry Lynn Walston of Brewton, Ala.; one brother, Gregory (Lourie) Rolin of Atmore; one sister, Grace Marie (Bill) Stuckey, of Atmore; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. William “Bill” Stuckey officiating. Burial will follow at Judson Creek Indian Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 25, 2022 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.
Pallbearers will be Clifton Carroll, Allen Nix, Jake Woods and Justin Rolin

Helen Henderson Crumpton
Ms. Helen Henderson Crumpton, native of Atmore, Ala., and resident of Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by Christian Memorial Funeral Home.

Mary Brye
Ms. Mary Brye, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 at D. W. McMillan Hospital.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.

William LaDawn English

English

Mr. William LaDawn English, age 46, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Atmore, Ala., died suddenly in Los Angeles, Saturday, March 5, 2022. A native of Atmore, LaDawn lived most of his life in Calif. He was a graduate at Dorsey High School. He pursued a career in film acting. He was a big Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Lakers’ fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie “Red” Salter and a brother, Shawon Salter.

Mr. English is survived by his mother and stepfather, Annie May and Jessie Lawson of Atmore; three sons, Jordan, Jelane, and Jemari English, all of Los Angeles; six sisters, Ivy English, Tracey English, Marchelle English, Jessica English, Jennifer English, and Valerie Salter of Atmore; two brothers, Winston Salter of Mobile, Ala. and Jerry Johnson of Atmore.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 1, 2022 from 2 – 5 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel

Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Noon at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center- Atmore with Bishop Darryl North, Pastor and Rev. joe L. Hayes, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Doris Johnson
Ms. Doris Johnson, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, march 28, 2022 at her home in Milton, Fla.

William Clarence Thomas

Mr. William Clarence Thomas, age 91, of Atmore, Ala., passed away March 19, 2022 at his home. He was born in Conecuh County, Ala. to the late Edward and Ethel Thomas. He was educated in the Public School System of Conecuh and Escambia counties of Ala. He served during the Korean Conflict in the US Army. He was employed with General Foods as a refrigerator mechanic retired after more than thirty years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy football fan. He was a member of the VFD Post 201 of Florida. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Elzeretha Brown; son, Lee Curtis; daughter, Wilma; granddaughter, Danielle; brothers,  James, Curtis, Johnny Fred; sisters, (twin) Annie Ruth, Fannie Lou), Bernice and (twin) Nancy and Frances.

Mr. Thomas is survived by a daughter, Wanda Jackson of Stockton, Calif; grandchildren, David, Michelle and Gabrielle, all of Calif., Xavier, Brittney and Ridge of Winter haven, Fla.; a host of great-grands and one great-great-grandchild; bother, Bernard (Wilma) Thomas; two sisters, Bettye (Edward) Adams and Barbara (Willie) Dukes; sisters-in-law, Elsworth Thomas of N.J., Vermell and Luzierger Brown of Winter Haven, Fla.; brother-in-law, Bishop E. T. (Leoza) of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Gregory Sanders, Officiating and Eulogist. Interment was held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.

Honorary pallbearers and honorary flower bearers were his nephews and nieces.

Frank Jones

Jones

Mr. Frank Jones, age 90, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at his home. He was born to Roland and Dora Jones in Marks, Miss. He joined the U.S. Air force after high school serving as a Sargent as a Fire Protection Technician. He was employed at Fountain Correctional Facility as an officer for thirteen years. He was a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid Auburn University Football fan. He was a member of the PCRC Club, Concerned Citizens of Atmore and the Atmore Memorial VFW Auxiliary Post #7016. He enjoyed cooking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Darwin Robinson; three brothers, Mack, Earl and Lee Jones; three sisters, Rosie Mae Jones, Fannie Johnson and Iola Thomas.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of forty years, Rosie of Atmore; three children, Fredrick (Shaleta) Jones of Clear Water, Fla., Randy Jones of Montgomery, Ala. and Kelvin Jones of Atmore, Ala; eight grandchildren, Wanda Jones, Darwin Robinson II, Danielle Robinson, Chris Jones, Joshua Jones, Megan Jones, Semira Jones, Caleb Jones; a very special great-grandson, Ja”Mir (Shugg) Redmond; one brother, Freddie Jones of Old Hickory, Tenn.; one sister, Betty (Jan) Thomas of champion, Mo.; two brothers-in-law, Clarence (Delois) Marvin and Earnest (Fannie) Marvin of Pensacola, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Bonita (James) McCants of Atmore; very special and devoted friends, Wayne and Sandra Gray, Bill Gray, Doris Ridgeway, Lisa Pullins and Rosalind Dailey; a host of other relative and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Willie Hawthorne, Officiating Eulogist. Interment followed at Stallworth Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his sons and family.

Flower bearers were his neighbors and friends.

Annie Helen Johnson

Johnson

Ms. Annie Helen Johnson, 87, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at her residence. She was a native of Atmore and had attended the Freemanville School. She worked as a presser for many years at Vanity Fair. She was a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church where she sang in the senior choir. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, cooking, and going to church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Johnson; her parents, Will and Gertrude Price; two brothers, Marshall Lindsey and Joe Louis Price; one sister, Emaster Mae Smith Riggs.

Ms. Johnson is s Public walk through viewing will be Fri., April 1, 2022 from 2 – 5 pm at the funeral home.

Ms. Johnson is survived by  her daughter, Angelina Williams Price; five sons, Wallace Johnson, Rickey Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Randall Johnson and Eddie Johnson, III; four sisters, Mary Price, Deloris Robinson, Amy Price, and Carol Price – James; one brother, Pat Price; sixteen grandchildren with two devoted, (Kenya Castro and T.J. Johnson); thirteen grandchildren.   

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Hawthorne, Pastor and Bishop Wayne Johnson, eulogist. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 1, 2022 from 2 – 5 p.m. at Turner funeral Chapel.

Patricia Finney Burks

Burks

Mrs. Patricia Finney Burks, age 64, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Atmore Community Hospital. A native of Atmore, she was a graduate of Escambia County High School and a graduate of Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Ga. She worked as a social worker for the State of Alabama with DHR. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, going to church, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Harris Street AOH Church of God where she had been Supt. of Sunday school, member of the Missions Board, and Usher Board.

She was preceded in death by a son, Barrett N. Finney; her parents, Lee, Sr. and Mary Alice Finney.

Mrs. Burks is survived by her husband, Frank Burks, Jr.; one  daughter, Jada S. Thomas (Jeremiah James) of Atmore; one son, Christopher Frank Burks (Adriana Marrero) of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Rachelle Finney Garrett and Rebecca Finney (Austin) Thompson all of Atlanta, GA; (4) brothers, Charles Lee Finney and Lee Finney, Jr., both of Atmore, Michael (Bertha) Finney of Montgomery, Ala. and Glenn (Sharon) Finney of Akron, Ohio; a Godson, Brandon (Ashley) Tanner; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service were held Tuesday, March 29, 2022 Noon at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center- Atmore with Bishop Darryl North, Pastor and Elder Timothy Craft, eulogist. Interment was held in Fairview Cemetery.
