Watch out for kids
News Staff Report
Three events will take place in Atmore this weekend as the community’s youngsters celebrate Halloween.
*The first event is Trick or Treat on the Street, which is sponsored by Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce. It will take place throughout downtown this Friday, October 29, from 4 to 6 p.m.
For an updated list of businesses that will be handing out candy to youngsters during the event, make regular visits to the Chamber’s Facebook page.
*Also on Friday, Main Street Atmore is sponsoring a Witches’ Ride. Participating witches must be 21 or older and sign a liability waiver. Each will pay $20 to ride a bicycle or a broom (walk), or $50 to ride a golf cart. Proceeds will be used for Main Street Atmore Façade Grants and downtown revitalization.
Witches will start lining up at 5 p.m. at Atmore City Hall. The ride will begin at 5:45 p.m. and will continue along East Ridgeley, Main, Church and Presley streets before ending at city hall.
*The city-sanctioned trick-or-treat period will be from 5-8 p.m. this Saturday, October 30, due to the heavy volume of church traffic on Sunday.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully and be on the lookout for costumed children and their guardians in or along city streets.
