Atmore police continued this week their investigation into a shooting that occurred last Friday (October 1) at Bragg Street Apartments.
The incident, which took place shortly after 6 p.m., was initially reported as a fatal shooting, but Police Chief Chuck Brooks said the unidentified victim did not succumb to the injury.
“The victim is still alive and is being treated at an area medical facility,” Brooks said.
Reports from a friend of the victim’s family are that the shooting was accidental. Brooks would neither confirm nor deny the report, saying only that “all evidence indicates the shot was self-inflicted.”
