The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office reported at 3:30 p.m. that escapee Jesse Lee Tidwell Jr. was recaptured and is now in custody.
Alabama Department of Corrections officials announced this afternoon (Wednesday, July 14) that Tidwell, who was serving time for second-degree rape, escaped today. He reportedly left his work assignment near North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette.
The 46-year-old inmate, who was convicted in Lauderdale County in 2014 and sentenced to 30 years behind bars, escaped around 2:17 p.m. Details of the escape were not provided.
