Pensacola Sports held its annual Senior Scholar Athlete Awards program Tuesday, May 11, at Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola. There were 227 senior student athletes nominated from Escambia (Fla.) and Santa Rosa county schools. Meredith McGhee, Northview High School, was selected as the overall individual sports winner for girls’ golf. She received a one-year renewable scholarship from Pensacola State College. Selections were made by a committee consisting of educators, community leaders and Pensacola Sports board members. Applications were anonymous and selection was based on students’ credentials for each sport.
