News Staff Report

Birmingham-based Hibbett Sports selected Escambia County High School to be a Sole School program recipient for 2021.
A check for $2,000 was presented to the school Wednesday, March 31. At the end of the one-year program, ECHS will receive another check from Hibbett Sports in the amount of $1,000.
“I am so proud that Escambia County High School was selected for this program,” ECHS principal Amy Cabaniss said. “Big thanks to Coach Mason for completing the application so we could even be considered for the program.”
Sole School is a philanthropic outreach program in which local Hibbett and / or City Gear locations sponsor an underserved school in their local community. As part of the program, schools receive an annual financial donation, along with athletic equipment, shoes for students, Sole Schools promotional items and student mentorship opportunities with local Hibbett and City Gear Management staff. This year Nike has partnered with Hibbett to provide additional funds to sponsored Sole Schools.
“Our Sole School program is a unique way to engage and support the communities that are so meaningful to us,” said Brian Kelly, Hibbett District Sales Manager. “This year we are especially proud to partner with Nike who has been so generous in helping us give Escambia an additional check this year.”
The check was presented by Jacquelyn Dunlap, Atmore Hibbett personnel, and Brian Kelly to ECHS coach Scott Mason, and ECHS principal Amy Cabaniss.
