Wednesday, January 13, the Poarch Band of Creek Indians (PCI) announced they have joined a partnership with Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and several other organizations to participate in the newly created Alabama Anti Human Trafficking Alliance.
PCI Chairwoman and CEO Stephanie A. Bryan released the following quote:
“Human trafficking is a heinous crime that deserves to be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent. I commend Attorney General Marshall, the Sunshine Center, and all of the organizations participating in this important effort. The Tribe remains committed to using our resources to contribute to this Alliance.”
Attorney General Marshall said, “The effectiveness of the Alabama Anti Human Trafficking Alliance lies in the unique resources of each of our members in helping to close loopholes to criminal activity. One such example is our partnership with the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. I wish to thank Tribal Chair Stephanie Bryan for teaming with our alliance partners to ensure human traffickers find no refuge in our state.”
The Alabama Anti Human Trafficking Alliance includes U.S. Attorney’s Offices for Northern, Middle and Southern Districts, Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Family Sunshine Center, Wellhouse, Ashakiran, and the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force. It was created by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.
