Atmore police were still searching Tuesday, December 2, for a local man who is the only listed suspect in the Friday, November 27, shooting death of an Atmore teen.
Police Chief Chuck Brooks said Rodarious Tyrik Dailey, 22, is wanted for murder in the death of the 17-year-old victim. Dailey remained at large as midweek approached, and Brooks warned that the public should consider the suspect as armed and dangerous.
According to police reports, city police were dispatched around 4:27 p.m. to a Harris Street address after emergency dispatchers received a report of the shooting. Upon arrival a minute later, patrol officers discovered the teen sitting alone in the back of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Police officers performed CPR on the victim, whose name has not been released, until Atmore Fire Department medics, who arrived two minutes after dispatch, took over.
An ambulance crew reportedly arrived about five minutes later, and reports show that AFD medics continued CPR in the ambulance as the teen was taken to Atmore Community Hospital, where he later died.
Witnesses told police investigators the victim was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle when Dailey entered the property, walked up to the vehicle and shot him.
APD detectives urge anyone with information concerning Dailey’s possible whereabouts to call APD at 251-368-9141.
