An unidentified Atmore resident was arrested in the first hour of Saturday, November 28, and charged with DUI after crashing into a utility pole at the corner of East Horner Street and Pensacola Avenue. Police reports show that an officer observed a car that “looked like it had been in a wreck” and pulled it over at 12:30 a.m. The driver said he had “left the roadway, striking the pole” a few minutes earlier. An ambulance was called, but the driver refused medical treatment. Alabama Power crews were dispatched to repair the pole and lines.
