An Atmore man is free on bond this week, charged with attempted murder in a Sunday (October 25) shooting that took place at a residence in the city’s northeastern quadrant.
Atmore Police Department Sgt. Daniel Harris said investigators placed Tyrell Dashun Ford, 25, under arrest last Wednesday, October 28, three days after the incident, which left an unidentified man with a gunshot wound to one of his hands.
The investigation began when officers responded to “a call from Atmore Community Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim,” according to a press release issued last week by city police.
When officers arrived at the local hospital’s emergency department, they came into contact with medical staff who led them to “a male subject being treated for a gunshot wound to the left hand.” Police later determined that the shooting took place at a Gray Street address.
Police have not released any of the particulars of the shooting incident, which is still under investigation.
An employee of the Escambia County Detention Center’s booking and release division reported this week that Ford was released the day after his arrest, when a $30,000 bond was posted on his behalf.
Harris said police are also continuing their investigation into a second gun-related incident that was reported the same day, in the southeastern sector of the city.
The APD detective said Monday investigators had “nothing new” related to their probe into an October 25 report of “multiple shots fired” in the area of McRae Street Apartments.
Neither injury nor property damage was reported in that incident, but no details have been released because of the case’s active status.
