Charlie James Boggan

Mr. Charlie James Boggan, age 67, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020. He was born to James and Alma Boggan. He attended Escambia County High School. He was employed at International Paper Company in Bay Minette, Ala. until his health began to fail. He was a gentleman and a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Boggan and brother, Joseph Boggan, Sr.

Mr. Boggan is survived by his daughters, Kimara Boggan of Montgomery, Ala., Sherrona turner of Phoenix City, Ala. and Keaira Boggan of Atmore; son, Brandon (Wendy) Boggan; brothers, Jerry (Toyka) Boggan of Camden, Ala., Randy (Barbara) Boggan of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Frank (Dannie) Boggan of Atmore;; mother, Alma Lambert Boggan of Atmore; sister, Betty Boggan of Atmore; two aunts, Beatrice Johnson and Vera Boggan, both of Atmore; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held at Stallworth Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Monroe Tucker, Jr, officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers and floral attendants were family and friends.

Alma Lambert Boggan

Mrs., Alma Lambert Boggan, age 90, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturaday, May 16, 2020. She was born to the later Pinkie Hollinger Lambert and Charlie Lambert. She attended Escambia County Training School. She was employhed at Greenlawn Hospital, now know at Atmore Community Hospital, for thirty-five plus years. She was also employed at the Atmore Country Club for many years. She attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church serving as church secretary under the oleadership of Rev. E.F. Campbell. At her leisure she enjoyed cooking, sewing and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Boggan; sons, Joseph Boggan, Jr. and Charlie James Boggan.

Mrs. Boggan is survived by her sons, Jerry (Toyka) Boggan of Camden, Ala., Randy (Barbara) Boggan of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Frank (Dannie) Boggan of Atmore;; devoted daughter, Betty Boggan of Atmore; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Johnson and Vera Boggan, both of Atmore; sixteen grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; devoted granddaughter, Bridgett Richardson; special friend, Rosie Riley Davis; God children/Bonus children; Clintin Martin, Diane Lee Sherry Rudolph and Steve Rudolph and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held at Stallworth Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Monroe Tucker, Jr, officiating. Interment followed at Stallworth Cemetery.

Pallbearers and floral attendants were family and friends.

Alan Thomas Milstead

Mr. Alan Thomas Milstead, age 60, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a native of Century, Fla. and had resided in McDavid, Fla. for most of his life.
Mr. Milstead is survived by his wife of  thirty-six years, Sandra Milstead of McDavid; two sons, Travis Wilson (Amanda) Milstead of Jacksonville, N.C. and Waylon Thomas Milstead of McDavid; one brother, James Milstead of Molino, Fla.; one sister, Linda Milstead of Pensacola; one grandchild, Lynde Milstead; special friend, Sparky and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. William Chancery officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery.

James Earl Moye

Moye

Mr. James Earl Moye, age 67, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 in Bluff Springs, Fla. He was born in Century, Fla. and lived in Flomaton, Ala. most of his life. He was a member of Calvary Apostolic Tabernacle in Molino, Fla. for forty-three years serving as a former Youth Leader. He was a member of the Lambeth VFD. He was employed with Escambia (AL) Road Department, former employee of USA Concrete, Lanier Sand & Gravel and Roy Parker & Sons Gravel Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Devere Moye.

Mr. Moye is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Joan Darlene Moye of Flomaton; son, Nicholas James Moye of Flomaton; brothers, Curtis Moye and Robert (Anita) Moye , all of Flomaton; sisters, Sue (David) Raines and Glenda Moye all  of Flomaton; grandchildren, Anderson James Moye and Darcey Katherine Moye, all of Flomaton; mother of his grandchildren, Megan Knowles Moye of Flomaton; special aunt, Clara Stokes of Flomaton and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 29, 2020 at p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Mill and Pastor Rusty Knowles officiating. Burial followed at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Buford Lee, Robert Moye, Dale Shore, Mark Hales, Michael Gay and Randy Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Kennedy, Buddy O’Bannon, Lendy Hamm, Michael Burnham, Darryl Fore and Douglas Neal.

Linda Mae Findley

Mrs. Linda Mae Findley, age 68, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in Pensacola, Fla. She had lived most of her life in Century, Fla. She was retired from the Escambia County Florida School Board as a bus driver for over twenty years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Verna Simmons; daughter, Edna Dawn Gafford and two brothers, Billy Simmons and Clyde Simmons.
Mrs. Findley is survived by her husband of twenty years, Johnny Lee Childress of Century, Fla.; one son, Jody Douglas Findley of Century; one daughter, Wendy (Keith) Lisenby of Brewton, Ala.; one brother, David Simmons of Jay, Fla.; two sisters, Brenda (Jerry) Wiggins of McDavid, Fla. and Patsy (Arthur) Herrington of Patterson, La.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
The family received friends Sunday, May 31, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Little Jamie Gafford, Big Jamie Gafford, Hunter Gafford, Stevie Lashley, Austin Greenwood and Jacob Findley.

Maude Watson Thomas 

Thomas

Ms. Maude Watson Thomas, 82, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020 at West Florida Hospice Facility in Pensacola, Fla. She was a native of Escambia Co, Ala. She lived in Mt. Vernon, NY before relocating back to Atmore working as a presser in the dry cleaner industry in New York and Alabama. As she worked for Johnny’s Cleaners in Flomaton, Ala. She was a missionary at Mt. Hebron Apostolic church in Yonkers, N.Y. and New Regeneration Holiness Church in Atmore. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Grover Watson; husband, Anerable Thomas; son, Joe Michael Thomas and her brothers, Claude Watson, Floyd Watson.

Ms. Thomas is survived by two daughters, Deborah Young of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Micesha Thomas of White Plains, N.Y.; three sons, Herman Womack of Century, Fla., Edd Watson of Savannah, Ga., and De’quan Thomas of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Anise Watson-Smith of Detroit, Mich., Jacqueline Watson of East Norwalk, Conn., Linda Faye Richardson of Gardenia, Calif.; twenty-two grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Public viewing will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 2 – 6 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Stallworth Cemetery with Mother Deborah Young officiating.

Ledell Johnson, Sr.

Mr. Ledell Johnson, Sr., age 83, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Atmore Community Hospital

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Faith Center.

Public viewing will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 from 4 until 6 p.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

George C. Sharp

Rev. George C. Sharp, age 87, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020. He was born to the late Thomas Sharp Sr. and Josephine Salter Sharp. He was a graduate of Escambia County Training School and later received his diploma at night school. He was also a graduate of E.L. White Theological Seminary. He was a member of Mt. Gillead Lodge #303A.He was a member of Mt. Gillead Missionary Baptist Church serving as an associate minister until his death. He was employed with Monsanto in Pensacola, Fla. for over thirty years, Standard Furniture Company and Twin Security for over twenty years. In his leisure he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, George Sharp, Jr. and George (Kevin) Sharp, Jr.; two brothers, Joe Sharp and James Foster; two sisters-in-law, Johnnie Mae Sharp and Nancy E. Sharp; one son-in-law, Willie J. Williams; one grandson, Antonio Richardson and one great-grandson, Dariontae Richardson.

Rev. Sharp is survived by his wife, Rosie Lee Sharp of Atmore; six children, Eddie (Shellie) Sharp, Alfred (Debra) Sharp, Travis Sharp, all of Atmore, Mary M. Williams of Brewton, Ala., Rosie M. Williams of Lakeland, Fla., Patricia Sharp of Syracuse, N.Y.; one brother, Thomas Sharp, Jr. of Pensacola; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Willie J. McCall of Atmore; one God-son, Jonathon (Mary) Barnes of Atmore; special friend, Jertho Dailey and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Gillead Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Monroe Tucker, Jr., presiding and Pastor Gray Bryant Eulogist. Interment followed in Pierce, Montgomery-Rabb Cemetery.

Pallbearers and flower bearers were family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers were Mt. Gillead Lodge 303A.
