New school record

Rabb scores 94 points during week; Bulldogs improve to 14-2

Kedarieon (K.D.) Rabb scored 94 combined points, setting a new school record for points in a week, as J.U. Blacksher continued to roll.
Despite a loss to W.S. Neal, the Bulldogs improved to a 14-2. Rabb and Company first squared off against Neal January 6, dropping just short, 57-52. Rabb scored 28 points during that contest, setting the stage for his record-breaking performance.
JUB also got an 11-point game from J.T. Tucker, while Bubba Nettles added eight and Deon Hill and Dorien Quarles scored two points each.
On January 7, Rabb helped lead the Bulldogs to a 58-49 victory over Leroy High, scoring a monumental 42 points, his new career high according to J.U. Blacksher principal Donald Baggett.
“Rabb is an impressive athlete,” Baggett said. “We are not sure if it is a new school record for total points for one player during one game, but if it is not, it is close to it. What we can confirm however, is that Rabb has set a new school record for total individual combined points for one week.”
Tucker supplemented Rabb’s performance with 10 points, and Nettles, Hill and Quarles added two points each.
Rabb continued the dominating performance last Friday, January 10, scoring 24 total points as the Bulldogs knocked off Red Level, 62-32. Tucker followed Rabb’s performance, adding 13 points. Justin Heffington and Nettles added six points each, Hill scored five, Josh Peavy had four points, Morgan Dean and Quarles added two each.
“Rabb is incredible to watch,” Baggett added. “He is a highlight player and is not only good at basketball but is a good quarterback on the football field and has just enlisted to play baseball for the first time this upcoming season.”
With a full docket of four games this week, Rabb and Company will be busy.
The Bulldogs will next face W.S. Neal this Thursday, January 16.
Girls
In varsity girls action, the Lady Bulldogs improved their overall record to 7-7 after defeating Leroy 44-37 last Tuesday, January 7, but fell short 69-34 against Red Level last Friday, January 10.
Larri-Barbara Turner-Watts led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring against Leroy with 17 points. Watts’ scoring performance was followed up by Kayley Burgess (10 points), Aniyah Tucker (5), Colby Hollinger (5), Gerri-Ryann Espey (3), Brittany Bell (2) and Jayla Brown (2).
Jessie Risher and Bell topped the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs during the loss against Red Level with nine points each. Tucker and Watts added six points each, and Hollinger scored four points.
The Lady Bulldogs will next face W.S. Neal’s Lady Eagles this Thursday, January 16, and will conclude this week against A.L. Johnson in Uriah on Friday night.
