Children of all ages from Atmore and the surrounding area are invited to celebrate the holiday season by attending one of the community’s longest-running holiday celebrations, the 12th annual Candyland Christmas Party, which will take place this Saturday, December 22, at Grace Fellowship Church.
A “full meal” dinner, as well as snacks, will be provided to each person who attends the free event, which starts at 3 p.m., and the youngest among them will be given age-appropriate toys. Dozens of door prizes will also be awarded during the event, and several special costumed guests will interact with and help entertain the crowd.
Santa and his wife are scheduled to appear, as well as cartoon favorites Hello Kitty, Doc McStuffins and several others. Last year’s event, which drew an estimated 100 people, included drawings for a television and 10 bicycles.
Betty Cox, founder and administrator of the event’s sponsor, Change of Mind Ministry, said there would also be games and singing at the community party, which usually lasts for several hours.
All children are welcome, Cox said, but each must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Grace Fellowship Church is located at 1412 East Nashville Avenue (U.S. 31), just past Medical Park Drive.
