If you’ve been downtown, you know Christmas events must be near at hand.
Windows are decorated. Reindeer are suspended across Main Street. And lights are running along the tops of buildings.
Thursday evening, the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce will host Jingle Bell Walk, a time to visit numerous local merchants who are staying open later than usual. Also, that evening, the winner of the window decoration contest will be announced. Be sure to vote. Paper ballots are available at participating businesses or you can vote online (check the Chamber Facebook page).
Saturday, Dec. 8, Atmore firefighters are holding their second Firefighters for Christmas Toy Drive at Walmart this year. Toys from the first drive on Nov. 10 were taken to children whose families were hurricane victims in north Florida. This drive will be for local kids. The Superheroes will be there for this drive too.
Drop off a new unopened, unwrapped toy. The drive starts at 9 a.m.; they don’t have a set ending time.
Friday evening at 5:30 p.m., the Poarch Creek Indian Christmas Parade begins at the gym and ends the Poarch Creek Community Center, corner of Martin and Green Road. It’s a little shorter route this year.
December 10, Monday evening at 6:30, the Atmore Christmas Parade rolls down Main Street. The theme is Disney.
