Special to Atmore News

Youth Leadership Atmore is in full swing! They hosted breakfast for the local first responders and other emergency personnel in the area on October 24. They met with Atmore Police Department and Fire Department as well as Poarch Police Department and Fire Department. They learned about the day-to-day activities and listened to stories of them out in the field.
Chaz McGhee, a YLA participant, stated that as someone who has first responders in his family, he enjoyed giving back to them. He feels that they do so much in the community, whether it be answering a call in the middle of the night or helping at a community event. He is thankful that our city has amazing first responders.
On November 6 and 7, Youth Leadership Atmore traveled to Camp Beckwith in Fairhope, Alabama. They participated in teambuilding activities. The courses were not only about how to communicate and work together as a team, but also how to push yourself to new limits. Jodi James, Program Coordinator, stated that it was amazing to see the change in the kids after just one day. They came together and mastered problem solving as a group and really worked well together as a team through the courses.
They will be volunteering at several local events around town through the holidays and their December session will be on the History of Atmore.
We Care of Atmore and Jason Pilger Chevrolet provides transportation for the sessions.
