Alabama Department of Corrections officials have announced this morning’s (Monday, July 23) recapture of a state inmate who was one of two to escape from Loxley Work Release early this morning, and who later crashed his getaway car into a pole at the Chevron station at Exit 57.
Damon Rashad Dinsmore and Cantorius Alan White escaped around sunrise from the minimum security facility, in Baldwin County.
White was captured by Loxley police around 8:05 a.m., about two hours after the pair escaped. A manhunt including a K-9 unit was launched for Dinsmore in the area of Alabama 21 and Interstate 65.
Mike Lambert, chief deputy for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, said shortly after 11 a.m. that Dinsmore, who was serving a third-degree burglary sentence out of Franklin County, was back in custody.
More details on the escape and recapture will be published in the July 25 edition of Atmore News.
