Each year, in an effort to make students aware of the importance of agriculture, the Escambia County Farmers Federation and Alfa Insurance sponsor the Farm-City Poster Contest.
This year, two students at A.C. Moore Elementary placed in the contest. Students winning first place received $200. Students winning second place received $100.
In addition, homeroom teachers of the winning students received the same amount as the students, with the stipulation that their awards were to be used for the classroom. This year, both students are in teacher Brian Stallworth’s class so he received $300 for his classroom.
On Thursday, December 15, Alfa agent Allen Walston joined ACM principal John Brantley in presenting the awards at A.C. Moore.
She’Marion Matthews, third grade, won the first place prize. Second place went to Auriana Knight, third grade.
