Baker guest at breakfast

The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce Breakfast with an Elected Official continues this Thursday, August 17, with Alabama Representative Alan Baker as the guest. The breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. and is held at the Chamber office on South Main.

Prayer services held weekly

A time of citywide prayer is being held every Monday, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Destiny Worship Center, 50 W. Sunset Drive. According to Dr. Bernard and First Lady Felicia Bishop, prayer is held for peace, unity and love in the community, and against gun violence, murder, abuse, suicide and division. All are invited.

Dietrich to speak in Brewton

Noted writer Sean Dietrich will be the guest speaker at the August 22 meeting of the Escambia County (Ala.) Historical Society. Dietrich is a columnist and novelist, known for his commentary on life in the American South. Liberty Church in Atmore will host A.W. and Kathy Jones in a service and luncheon Wednesday August 16, at 10 a.m. The Joneses have been serving in Guadalajara, Mexico since March 2002. The last scheduled Market in the Park is this Saturday, August 12. Come by Heritage Park between 7:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. for locally grown vegetables and produce and much more.
